Davids should have played in the middle with jenas, that was Davids downfall for us. he wasnt a left winger

Lee's a good solid professional. He gives 100% every time he puts our shirt on and has made the LB position his own these last two seasons. I hope he decides to stay because I think the team would be weakened if he left

The first thing to say about BAE is that he has bags of raw talent, which is the most important thing, you can't turn a carthorse into a racehorse. The question is whether he can knuckle down and use that talent. I'd definately be keeping him and see what he can do next year when given a chance.

As for Lee, he is currently our best left back, and alot of people agree with you Carl, including me, he was one of our best players from last season. Would be very disappointed if he left.

As for Bale, never seen him play and will reserve judgement, but from what I've been reading, he may well be groomed for left midfield as well as back up for left back.

I actually believe Beniot Assou-Ekotto will turn out to be a brilliant left full back (showed alot of promise IMO, definitely worth another season. He was badly let down during the early season stages by a lack of suffient cover on the left wing/Midfield.. Davids would've been ideal on the left to steady BAE into the league.) Guess I'm about the only one that thinks so in this forum.

Lee's a good defensive full back, and that really is a defenders brief. He does though lack quality going forward and has to cut onto his right foot which disrupts the momentum of attack. Saying that I'd still keep him because his proven.

oh well!

How would he have benefited? David's when played on the left, always used to cut inside and go looking for the ball - leaving the left flank completely exposed.

Davids was a massive liability. It was obvious to everyone that he was finished at the end of the season before last.

The only thing that was obvious to me was that the arrival of Davids (along with coincidentally Lee) saw us mount our first serious attempt at CL qualification, our best season ever in the prem, our first UEFA qualification since fuck knows when, the first time for years that we had true on pitch leadership which was crucial to our young team, the first time for years we were actually not pussies away from home (which coincidently returned last year) the first time 36,000 people turned up for a pre-season friendly, the first time the hair on the back of my neck stood up when a substitute came on in a pre-season friendly.

The effect Davids had on the team was possibly bigger than any single player had had in the previous 15 years.

A liability ? Fans like you are probably our biggest liability.

You need to go back to school and resit your arse from elbow O level.

I like the idea of Bale and Lee on the left side - with Lee covering the more ground but as long as Bale can get close enough to the oppo area to put in his killer crosses -

Probably Bale would be nominally LM and Lee LB

I also like the idea of getting in a player like Bent/Nugent so we have someone else beside Berbatov capable of getting on to the end of high crosses

Which is why I see another striker as higher priority than getting a LW, who's gonna cross to who, if Berbs gets injured/knackered/suspended etc

Maybe we'll be playing with 2 LBs hahaha....like having 2 left hands u know....but in this sense a bit better. At least now we cant moan about not having balance at the Left.

Like I've mentioned before. It would be ironic having purchased Bale, from reports he has good delivery into the box also a set piece specialist, therefore we sale MIDO. MIDO's best game IMO is evidently dependent on quality balls into the area for him to attack Jol himself said before he came to Spurs said "Mido is one of the best strikers attacking aerial balls"...i.e Arsenal Semi-Final Emirates.

I personal believe the order of priorities are wrong. The forward line is the last area that needs reinforcement.

1. Goal Keeper
2. Although we have Bale, we need more left footed options.
3. Central Defensive cover.
4. Cover for Tainio.
5. Striker.

WTF??? He pointed out that perhaps a top class central midfielder was the not the best option for our left flank. The reason for this was that Davids had played his entire career in the centre and had a tendency to move inside looking for the ball and so perhpas didn't offer the cover a LB might usually hope for. There's nothing contentious there is there?

He then went on to point out that by the time Davids left us the speed of the Prem was in danger of leaving him behind. That age had caught up as age often does when players reach their thirties. Nothing contentious there either?

You my friend, need to go back to school and brush up on some of those comprehension exercises you clearly missed out on and while you're at it maybe you get them to teach you a bit of respect to.

Much as I like Lee, at 30 and coming back from severe injury, how long can he continue with his energetic runs? It may be a good idea to sell him at a profit if we can get a younger, good back-up left-footed defender.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was making those runs at 34. His stamina reserves are incredible.

I have to say, the outpouring of support for Lee is not something which I thought I would see.

'Tiz good! :)

Certainly 'Tis, Carl. He is, for me, one of the key players in our team and one of the first names on the team sheet. I've been a fan since we signed him, solid and dependable defensively (except that gift for his countryman a couple of seasons ago). Team player, great positional awareness, does the simple things well and can get forward and beat his man. As I said before, selling him this summer would not reflect our CL ambitions if his replacement is a relatively untried 17 year old or the largely disapointing BAE.

The Daily Mail has added Udinese to the list of Italian clubs after him.

Udinese are the latest Italian club to show an interest in Tottenham defender Lee Young-pyo.
The Serie A team have joined rivals AS Roma and Torino in the chase for the 30-year-old left-back.

I'd be amazed if lee goes - all the stuff about bids etc doesn't suggest anything other than Lee is a good player and of course other clubs would like him,

plus we bought a left back, so let's speculate, plus an Italian club bid for him once so let's speculate some more

if we get a decent bid for him, he'll go.

But I VERY much doubt that the club are looking to get rid of Lee. Last year, as many accept, Lee had a very good season. Just thinking back to his last game of the season, he had a great game in Sevilla where Alves' flank was reasonably quiet most of the night

I think it was important we brought in a strong, young leftback with plenty of 'spunk'. He's dead handy with his left foot too which is surely one massive pro over Lee's not so good left foot.

Lee is a good back up player.

I think Lee's like my car. I quite like it and whatever I get for it probably wouldn't be enough for me to replace it anyway.

Keep him. He could be a good mentor for G.B. too.
