La Liga eh? That league where a lot of decent players score a lot of goals and top players score more goals than there are games...

I remember when Afonso Alves scored 34 in 31 for Heerenveen. Can't remember how many he got for Middlesbrough in the PL though.
The Premier League: where La Liga no-marks like Michu star too. Horses for courses. You comparing La Liga to to the Eridivisie now?

Soldado may never make it over here, but to dismiss his record over there is folly.

Nope, because scoring loads of Pens does not make you a great Striker, and missing a few doesnt make you a bad one.
To be fair, Defoe has made an art form of not just missing from 12 yards for us, he can do it from 2 yards as well - let us remember his legendary miss at the Etihad which cost us the game.

I'll give Soldado the whoe season before I'll say he's not good enough. Defoe's had nine of them to prove it though.

So many excuses

He isn't getting service (which he was)

He gets service and he can't hit a barn door so the new one is ''he has been poorly managed''

I'm starting to get concerned about the whole Soldado thing, but to call him a crap player isn't right. His record speaks for itself an his price tag is justified. Maybe it's not just the right league for him... I hope I'm wrong, but I've been hoping for a long time now.

I disagree. How many of Soldado's supposedly meaningless penalties have resulted in us getting 3 points this season? Where would we be in the league if he was only as good with them as Defoe is? It takes a certain type of player to be able to confidently put a penalty away, and it's normally the better players that are that certain type of player. That's precisely why our nation is shit at penalties, but the Spanish & German etc are so good at them. They're just better players than our over-hyped English dross (y)

This is a good post but the use of the word folly makes it truly awesome.

Michu scored 17 in 39 for Vallecano as an attacking midfielder.

But yeah, Soldado is class.

Sherwood summed it up well in his interview. Around the 1:10 mark.

I can't believe you've just spam rated all my posts, my god you need to grow up.

You have Aaron Lennon's eyebrows stuck on the side of your fucking head, and you're purposely rating posts as 'spam', despite them being in response to you? Priceless :ROFLMAO:
Done the same to me as well, reported him twice :LOL:

Fair enough, Michu's goals record better than I thought. The point stands though plenty of players not exactly tearing it up in other European leagues have done well in the PL.

Plenty of players who are undoubtedly class acts never made it in the PL for one reason or another. Are we it suppose people like Forlan, Shevchenko, Suker were shit just because they had a shit time in England?

Let's suppose Defoe went to Valencia in exchange for Soldado last summer. How so we suppose little Jermain would be getting on in southern Spain right now? Change of team-mates, league,
culture, manger who signed him sacked... I guess we'll never know, cos he pusseyed out of football to go hang out with Drake.
