Once again Rose proved he is still a level below Davies . Its not even a argument. Given how well Davies has played for over a year & how well he has improved this season, Davies is our no1 LB.

Rose used to be a instinctive & aggressive player. Now he thinks on every touch, invariably takes the wrong decision. May be its lack of match practice. Regardless, he should have no complaints if Davies is picked ahead of him in key games

On a positive note, I think Lamela looks bright.. I'd rather see him go a bit more central 2nd half, playing off of Kane, he has that eye for a pass like. I other in our team in tight areas.
Not as bright as berbatov...he was dog bright

Just on my way back.
It seemed like we rarely got out of first gear tonight.
I'm going to be positive about that though as it looked like a team effort not to get out of first gear.
Saving our legs for Saturday....

Waiting for the quality of the MOTD cameras but my first impressions
of Sonny's goal was that it looked very much like an Alan Gilzean special from years ago.

Finally on the train home, was frustrating at times, especially with a Brighton fan behind me. Kinda wanted to slap her.

Also note to self, wear more layers.'

Given match time and fitness he is no way a level below.

He is...
2016/17
Rose played lesser minutes than Davies.
When Rose played, we averaged 2.06 points per game
When Davies played, we averaged 2.57 points per game
And we had our best season ever, with Davies playing most minutes.

Davies does not have fancy tricks, great acceleration or athleticism.
What Davies has is steadiness, consistency & make a correct decision most times.

This season, Davies has already scored 2 goals & assisted 3. He is only improving, he is still 3 years younger than Rose. He has so much upside to his game. Rose has a big mouth & little patience. Davies was patient when Rose was playing. Now Davies is the better player for the team. So, Rose has to be patient & bide his time. Thats the reality.

I repeat. Most people were pleased at the line up.........So when it doesn't go according to plan, it's either blame Sissoko, Dele, Aurier or whoever, blame Poch's tactics, subs or whatever OR, admit to oneself that we don't actually have the faintest idea about football at the highest level and are a bunch of guessing windbags and that ain't ever gonna happen is it? :D

Fucking Deleissoko :cautious:

There might have been some pleasure as well with new signings such as Sissoko and Aurier, but when you see the flaws in their game its no surprise when questions are being asked considering what we paid for some of them. Ali however, he is off form at the moment but considering what we paid for him and his instant impact when he came into the team, there is no questioning his value or worth to our team/squad.

Did the lads and lassies have a good moan on here? We got three points despite a disjointed performance, we're fourth and we saved ourselves for Saturday.

Well, I don't think you can draw many conclusions from today's match. The movement of the players was poor. When Rose was playing well, the whole team was playing more fluidly than tonight. He isn't back up to speed and Davies is playing better than him, but it is not right to make a comparison at the moment.

Too harsh. Needs a run of games to get in sync with the other players.

If you recall, Davies really struggled when he first stepped in for Rose last year. It was not until Davies got a good run of games that we figured out how to best utilize his style.

Right now its difficult for the players to switch back and forth between Davies - who plays a bit more defensively and deeper, and Rose who is a bit more attack-minded, and plays higher up.

TBF most of the players also seemed to be playing on slow streams as well...
Honestly, I think if I set up 10 cones, they would intercept 40% of Spurs passes in the attacking end.

Very little off-the-ball movement - and a lot of passes to a player standing still.

Because it's our most productive avenue of scoring, Son, Eriksen, Alli, Kane, Lamela etc, finding those pockets in between midfield and defence and immediately turning and springing an attack. The difference being in games like these, there is very little space between the lines, and even when there is there are immediately defenders and/or midfielders converged on the player receiving the ball, meaning usually they pop the ball straight back to the passer or a full back.

The players were still moving looking for that same space, it just wasn't there, and even when it was it was for brief glimpses the player in possession simply did not see.

Unless we turn over attacks or win the ball from a high press, our attacking play is laboured in the extreme.

With Lamela back hopefully there'll be more 1-2's around the box and it will inject something our play has been missing.

1-2's with some third man running that'd be nice, (hell I'd even take first man running ATM)

For most of the second half I watched as Rose was continually in space, getting into positions for balls to be hit to him or in fact ahead of him into space. The problem is we don't have players who can pass that way. We play very few chipped passes, or through balls or curled passes into spaces. To be honest he suffered from an inadequate midfield today and a team not used any more to playing with quick attacking full backs

Sissoko played fine. Only a complete fucking idiot would blame the entire performance tonight on him.

Sissoko wasn’t that bad as everyone is saying today and I’m his biggest hater. I thought Rose was our worst player. But what I don’t understand is why we start Sissoko against team that park the bus

Indeed Sissoko is a bit like Andros in that respect, you give him the ball in tight spaces amongst crowded defences and ask him to make decisions he’s lost, but you give him a load of open grass to run into and he’s in business.

most boring 90 minutes Ive spent in some time but we won. Brighton made shockingly little effort to get a goal.
