Do we need to revise the criteria of why to award a penalty?
It would be quite complicated to implement, but I wouldn't be against the powers that be experimenting with a rule change whereby penalties were only awarded for clear goalscoring opportunities, and indirect free kicks were awarded for everything else in the area (eg when a player is running...- Ginol-ooh!

I didn't mean any disrespect to Dele or Brighton or Brentford by that. I didn't explain my point very well, but it was more that they are well organised teams that play attacking football, and that it would benefit Dele to have a well defined system to play in and perhaps to work with managers...- Ginol-ooh!

Completely understand that. Good point. I guess I'm just hoping he can turn it around as I've got such fond memories of his first few seasons for us. I think it might do him good to go out on loan to a place like Brighton or Brentford and see what Graham Potter or Thomas Franks could do with...- Ginol-ooh!

I don't think it's a totally ridiculous take at all to say that he has had good games and bad games this season, and also that when he has bad games he gets piled on more than most other players would do. There may be good reasons for this based on him not seeming to take his football too...- Ginol-ooh!

That's a fair point. I'd say the same could be said for Dier also. He's generally alright when he has a good screening midfielder in front of him, like most defenders really. I think it has just become difficult for a few players to change the narrative that's been written of them and that if...- Ginol-ooh!

I don't want to die on this hill, and don't think I'll post anymore in this thread (not that it really matters or that anyone would notice), but it does seem like if Dele has a bad couple of games the reaction is so much worse than if other players have a bad run of games.
