Thought Winks looked decent. Played a couple of good through balls, showed for the ball and seemed pretty confident

Also a word for Carrol. I'm probably one of his biggest critics so it was nice to see him finish off a move very well and give us the 2 goal cushion

I'm wondering if Lamela is going to play against United, missed a couple of great chances yesterday, largely indifferent today and Poch kept him on for 85 minutes.....

Could see him on the bench....

To be fair, the spirits of the fans tend to match the spirits of the players. Lads are well up for it today compared the statues and sideways passing yesterday.

I think people just need to get a grip and learn to have some fucking perspective

You've instantly become my favourite poster. I'd suggest said commentator had consumed too much wine, not a hope in hell Harry is playing for United this Saturday and I'll eat my own shit if he goes for £40m
Best avoid making bets about Harry Kane. Remember the forum poster who bet he would eat his own underpants if Harry went on to succeed in the Prem...sadly he welshed on his bet, I would think you are fairly safe knowing Levy, but are you willing to carry through yours if you lose?:poop::poop::eek:

Great! Now, we're stranded in Germany. We'll have to invade the Tunnel!

Havent seen the game yet, but so pleased for Carroll, by the sounds of it even the Carroll haters had to acknowledge his worth today, and a great finish by all accounts. Im pleased Maurice see's him as further forward type of player, hope today made himself part of the planning.

Think if given a chance he could really push Eriksen for his place this year...

I reckon Winks, Carroll and Onomatopoeia will be like three new signings this season. All look like really handy squad players already, but feel there's plenty more to come as they find their feet.

Really impressed by Wimmer, Trippier and Alli too. None of whom I knew anything about before.

I saw the second half. We moved the ball maturely and creatively and AC Milan totally lacked ideas. Nor did they close down in any kind of vigorous way. We were good and they were shit. It is possible for both to be true at the same time.

I didn't see yesterday's game, but "sideways passing" against a highly-drilled Real Madrid side comprising numerous world-class players is not really a criticism. It's "what you have to do to get a share of possession".

We found out where we are in the hierarchy: able to play respectably and lose against one of the world's top 5 teams and then able to dominate and beat a major club that has fallen upon lean times, despite playing a second-string line-up including a number of 19-21 year olds.

I'm OK with that. Where are all those who were howling the other day about how our participation in this tournament would destroy our confidence in advance of the season and incur multiple injuries to key starters?

The only really useful thing that we found out is that our youth players are actually fucking good. Onomah, Winks, Alli et al. looked completely at ease this afternoon and Trippier was arguably the best player on the park.
