What did they create in that first half? If we’d have been more ruthless we could have gone in at half time ahead.
A slow start and a bad error at the beginning of the second half gave them a lift. An act of stupidly 15 minutes later gifted them the game. They had more possession but they didn’t out play us.
Arsenal were the better team for 75 of the 90, a blind man could see that. As much as it hurts, the better side won.

They wont be in this form all season.

I also think people are going well over board on saying we are way off it.

We havent been perfect by all means. But its mostly been good in parts, need to improve in others.

Totally agree on both points. They are playing well - and are the best they've been in years - but everything has been in their favour so far this season (easy start, high confidence).

Had they come to our ground and turned us over then I'd say there is more reason to big them up.

There is so far to go this season. Let's see how they get on when the fixtures build up, as IMO their squad is thin..

For whatever reason we haven't quite clicked yet, especially in attack. If that happens we'll be much more enjoyable to watch.

I actually think there's every chance both North London teams qualify for CL this season.

This is the theme of the North London derby for several years. Away team doesn't turn up. Comfortable home win. I had no shock about how this played out. We'll probably turn them over at WHL in the reverse fixture.
I’m not sure we will. I’m not sure of us winning any game we play really.
Oops. Wrong.
don’t be too hard on yourself!

maybe this once….

Apart from the penslty Kane was very poor again. Can't help but feel his holding back and saving himself for the world cup and he knows he is the only undropable player.
Probably get slaughtered for this opinion but i wonder how we would play with 3 faster players pressing in Richarlison centre and kulu, Sonny either side as an experiment.

At some stage over the next few weeks he will have to rest him .

Yeah fuck it - let’s drop the worlds best striker and “experiment” because Russ1201 wonders if it might work.
What have any of us got to lose really… :cautious:

Because of my Spurs based feeds I’m now having to fast forward through loads of ‘Arsenal thrash Spurs’ YouTube vids just to get them to disappear! ??

We’ll have to agree to disagree. Having more possession doesn’t by itself make you the better team. For all their possession which they have because we choose not to compete for midfield control, they didn’t make many clear cut chances. I would argue we made better ones than them in the first half. We played with 10 men for 30 minutes and with his substitutions Conte had conceded the game with 25 minutes to go. We gifted them a goal and a man’s advantage. Without those errors it was a finely balanced game. It’s just their style of play is easier on the eye than ours.

There have been loads of times this season when we have worked our way into the opposition half and then we looked like we have no idea what to do. It’s like we have never trained to play in the oppositions half unless we are on the break. A lot of times we end up playing back and booting it up field so we can get everyone back behind the ball again. Conte says he hates losing. I would prefer a manager who loves winning. Of course I’m over reacting and the points we’ve got and whatever. But I want to enjoy our games and not just the results.

I would like to see that too. But today Sons (who I love) passing was proper shocking. Maybe they won’t mix it up too well. Also this might mean that the team just sits really deep and only plays ball over the top constantly.

Exactly this!
All teams have got at least 30 more games to play in the Premier league alone.

2 wins at Arsenal in Premier league era and 1 at Chelsea

People say it’s mentality but it isn’t . It’s quality and playing style , when have we ever genuinely controlled a game against a top team ( away from home) in possession with slick passing like Arsenal can and Man city do away from home in big games

we need more than just hoping for counter attacks and killing teams

At the PL champions last season, and at that time the reigning CL winning team. Who's to say what would have happened had Lloris held on to that ball?

Losing at Woolwich or Chelsea isn't season defining, and that sort of record you can find for almost any PL team.

Feel like we're starting to see the limits of Conte's management. It hasn't clicked all season but we've been fortunate to consistently pick up points. Helps having several world beaters in the team. Is this why Conte always demands huge spends wherever he goes? Because the football tends to go a bit flat and he's tactically inflexible?

When it's good it's good but when it's not it's really nothing special. The players don't seem entirely invested this season for some reason and not making the obvious rotational choices or using the squad to its potential seems weirdly stubborn.

I think he wanted Zaniolo or another technical midfielder but didn't get what he wanted. Son always been a bad passer but yes he did sign Richarlison, also signed Kulusevski though.

He hasn't got the number 10's he wants.

Zaniolo wasn't brilliant today, but you can see why Conte was after him. Exceptional talent.

Shit day, move on. They’re not amazing and we’re not terrible. This is what generally happens in the derby - the home team wins. If we could have seen the first 10 minutes of the second half out without doing anything stupid, I think we were well in the game but we fucked ourselves over like we still tend to do in the big games. They were better than us but I don’t think there’ll be much between us either way at the end of the season. Have a beer and enjoy your evening.
