We don't have anyone else in the squad who can orchestrate that kind of fluid attacking play from central midfield. His speed of thought and range of passing are second to none - when hes got his head right he simply makes us play a better style of football. He has an intuitive understanding of where the ball should be at any point in time. Its all one and two touch stuff and almost always the right idea. He acts as a quarterback does in American Football, directing play, dictating the tempo of attacks - pulling the strings. If the team were an animal, he'd be it's brain!
No matter how many technically gifted athletes you have in a team you need a core of players who have that kind of natural footballing brain. We have Keane who has that same kind of genius - but you can't dictate build-up play from a forward position. We 100% need to have a ball-playing midfield general - otherwise we are simply an expensive collection of athletes playing without any on-field direction!
Arsenal have Fabregas, Manure have Scholes AND Carrick. We only have Hudd - until we sign Fabregas Mk II or re-sign Carrick he must be accommodated in the team.
One more point - hes no less mobile than Carrick. MC has no pace to speak of and is not particularly strong - but he does have technique and tactical acumen in spades - just like our Tommy!
Tom isn't a player to be slotted into a system - if you play him you've got to build the system around him - only then will you see what he can really offer.
I think the game changed because we got an early goal in the second half. The pass Huddlestone played in for the goal was meant for Bent, luckily for us Berbatov was able to reach it.
I like Huddlestone but he really needs to knuckle down and work on his lack of mobility before he can be considered a starter for the 1st team.
Decent enough game tonight but nothing out of the ordinary!
just saw your signature,fucking mug!!
Think you are watching a different game mate.......:stupid:
Your point was badly made the first time, by the third time it's getting tiresome. Give the scratched record a nudge and move on.Huddlestone brilliant?
Before we get carried away.....Hud is like most things in....English soccer....promise but not classey enough for the bigger world game. I thought that he was going to reach the standard, last season, but he never did. He 'floundered' around, game to game and produced nothing that can be deemed Prem class never mind World class. Perhaps his new physique will alllow him to 'get about' more BUT that has yet to be proven. I can see Championship class there but....noy anything better....yet. Come on Hud, prove us wrong Brum need a Derby 'old boy' to sort them out COYS!

Can anyone tell which of our players who can pass a ball better than Tom Huddlestone?
