I don’t know how but we have to win. After Brighton and Brentford our players have to deliver. They chose this path.

If ever there was a must not lose game for us, this is it!
But we need to win, unless i am missing something what does a draw do for us? Losing or drawing still mean that we need to beat the scum and hope that they drop points to someone?

Weirdly a chance for our players to become immortal here. Imagine being the one game forever remembered for stopping Liverpool doing the quadruple. Personally that would motivate me massively let alone our own cause.

I disagree.

I think we're all of the opinion that we have to win our last 3 matches to have a hope of the top 4, and then rely on Arsenal to drop 2 points in one of their other 3 games. So a draw doesn't really benefit us much more than a loss, as we'll still be relying on Arsenal to drop 2 points in one of their other games.

Hopefully that allows us to play with nothing to lose and do the unthinkable and actually steal the 3 points at Anfield for a change.
This is true - however I'd much prefer to go into the NLD having held Liverpool at Anfield, than off the back of a defeat.

We have a terrible record against them, compounded by playing at Anfield. This one is a write-off.

I think a major factor will be how long we can keep it at 0-0 or get our noses in front and stay there. The Liverpool fans were extremely edgy against Everton the other week and that started to translate onto the pitch, Everton started getting a lot of space on the break.

To win there against all the odds with Liverpool going for the title would take huge balls from our players, and sadly they have shown not just recently but over an extended period of time that they have no balls.……none

We had our foot on arsenals throat before the Brighton game, and then decided to put in a performance of such passivity that it defies belief.

Sadly a draw isn’t much use to us.
Agree. Given 4th was ours to lose, it's a massive shame that we go into this being a must win.

Brentford and Brighton - what a cock up

I don't think a draw is out of the question, but a win isn't going to happen

All this nonsense about 4th being ours to lose

When was that exactly, after we’d come from nowhere and had no right to be in the mix for 4th?

This ‘squad’ (manager) has done an amazing job to be in with a shout with a few games left. Except for half a dozen players it is poor

Liverpool are a fantastic side, have more to lose than us and our record at Anfield is horrendous

Can only be 1 result…

It is a terrible record and I have witnessed quite a few hammerings at Anfield BUT
Last 3 pl games at Anfield.
Last season lost 2-1.....last minute goal from a corner by Firmino. We hit the post twice.
Season before ....lost 2-1 last minute cock up between Toby and Hugo resulted in Toby own goal.
Prev season....drew 2-2 pile driver from Wanyama Last min equaliser pen from Kane. Also missed a pen trying to be clever with a Panenka straight at the keeper.
We can score anywhere and we will certainly need to score on Sat.
The defence is a lot better now and we have Romero.
My only fear is what Cuti might do to Diaz if he plays on the left. He likes to give South American players a good whack. As long as he doesn’t get sent off I think we can get at least a draw.
If it’s level last 10-15 mins they will be piling forward as the league will be gone if they don’t win.
One clever pass over the top of TAA and Sonny is in.
Some say a draw is no good to us but it could make the difference. Puts us one point behind. If they beat Leeds , Arsenal will be 4 pts clear. Not guaranteed to beat Leeds . Arsenal are not great they have been getting the breaks recently, Leeds do look poor though.
So 4 pts behind , we have to win the Derby, if not it’s gone. Win the derby and it’s one point. We have Burnley and Norwich . They are away to Newcastle . Don’t see them winning that. A draw there puts us ahead.
Go to Norwich and stick a few in.
It’s happening.

In 1999, Manchester United won a treble. They missed out on the quadruple because they lost in the League Cup to Spurs.

In 2019, Manchester City won a treble. They missed out on the quadruple because they lost in the Champions League to Spurs.

In 2022, Liverpool are going for the quadruple...

Here's hoping history repeats itself.
Ooooh I like this lol

The way I see it is, assuming we do the bare minimum (beating arsenal, Norwich and Burnley) then we have four chances to snatch 4th.

Spurs vs Liverpool
Arsenal vs Leeds
Newcastle vs Arsenal
Arsenal vs Everton

In my opinion, this game is the chance with the least possibility of an upset. It is the hardest game in world football right now so I won’t be too upset if the most likely result happens, they’re just a great team.

Agree. I think Arsenal's last two games might be harder than people think, esp if Everton are fighting relegation on last day.

The chances of arsenal not winning all 3 games are higher than arsenal winning all 3 games. As long as we do what we need to in our 3 games then I think we’ll be okay. Gotta believe anyway.

Best I think we are getting from this is an entertaining well fought draw

Which does neither side any good what so ever.

Most likely is a 3/4-1 defeat IMO, just cant see us coping with it up there at 7.45 on a Saturday night, I mean talk about favorable fixture times. It'll be like a CL atmosphere in there, we will do well to get through the first 15 mins.

Yes. Hopefully Everton know a point on the last day will keep them up, park the bus all day long.

Newcastle, last home game on a Monday is a really tough game. If it were us going there I really would not fancy a result at all.

I do think it will all come down to the NLD, even if as expected they have a 5 point lead going into that. If we beat them, then beat Burnley we are above them before that Newcastle game and there would then be massive pressure on them

For sure that is tough viewing, but the margins aren't so big and I recall many of those games us holding our own to some degree.
Your right there were some close fought encounters , in the 2-1 loss think the last minute Toby own goal , no fault of his own , was very unfortunate.

The main thing we have in our favour is that a draw doesn't suit either team, and they have more to lose than us. So if we can keep it tight and try to somehow keep ourselves level until say the 70 min mark Liverpool will be forced to go all out for the win and hopefully provide us opportunity to counter.

It is absolutely vital that we don't go behind early...
