They have a very high line we can exploit. It suits what we do best. The counter with pace and precision. I'm not saying we'll definitely win, but we can do it. We beat City. Twice. I think we gave Liverpool a proper game at home. It's not out of the question.

I also think Arsenal may drop points in one of the other games, Newcastle being most likely.

You’re absolutely right, it does suit us to play against a team with such a high line. It also suits us that nothing less than a win is good enough for them. I just think they will have too much for our defence to handle. Our games against them are usually wide open, high scoring games but this won’t suit us. We need to sit deep and keep it tight, if we haven’t conceded by 75 then we’re in with a chance.

I’d like to assist in ending talk of a quadruple.
But this feels like a bit of a free hit, if we assume we have to beat Arsenal in the NLD, and hope they draw one of their other games. We should be able to go into this without too much pressure

think we all agree on this. Problem is im sure we also all agree that we will not be able to stop them scoring 1 or 2 goals minimum

So many on here are talking like getting a good result against Liverpool is impossible. I hope our players and coaching staff don't have the same defeatist mentality.

As others have said Liverpool can be got at with their high line... TAA and Robertson play as far forwards as our wingbacks yet only have a two man central defence, so there is definitely space to get behind them.

They may have to rest / rotate a couple players from their CL semi tonight.

Liverpool can often start slow in games and build momentum. If we can get an early goal we can then frustrate and counter, much like they did to us in CL final. But we can't just sit back and let them attack us as they have too much quality.

They're at a crucial pressure point of the season that you can get under their skin and force a mistake, like Gerrard's slip or shithouse them into a sending off.

Honestly I feel oddly confident we will raise our game and cause them problems.

probably a law somewhere preventing this, but if we managed to get 9 points from four games against City and Liverpool, in this of all seasons, well, I shall be getting very drunk Saturday night

Play as did against city and ride our luck a little- why not.

Everything says lose-my gut is staying positive. CL outing might have an influence.

We've already amassed 7 points from three games so would be 8 or 10 points

It is a terrible record and I have witnessed quite a few hammerings at Anfield BUT
Last 3 pl games at Anfield.
Last season lost 2-1.....last minute goal from a corner by Firmino. We hit the post twice.
Season before ....lost 2-1 last minute cock up between Toby and Hugo resulted in Toby own goal.
Prev season....drew 2-2 pile driver from Wanyama Last min equaliser pen from Kane. Also missed a pen trying to be clever with a Panenka straight at the keeper.
We can score anywhere and we will certainly need to score on Sat.
The defence is a lot better now and we have Romero.
My only fear is what Cuti might do to Diaz if he plays on the left. He likes to give South American players a good whack. As long as he doesn’t get sent off I think we can get at least a draw.
If it’s level last 10-15 mins they will be piling forward as the league will be gone if they don’t win.
One clever pass over the top of TAA and Sonny is in.
Some say a draw is no good to us but it could make the difference. Puts us one point behind. If they beat Leeds , Arsenal will be 4 pts clear. Not guaranteed to beat Leeds . Arsenal are not great they have been getting the breaks recently, Leeds do look poor though.
So 4 pts behind , we have to win the Derby, if not it’s gone. Win the derby and it’s one point. We have Burnley and Norwich . They are away to Newcastle . Don’t see them winning that. A draw there puts us ahead.
Go to Norwich and stick a few in.
It’s happening.
I admire your optimism.

Well no, of course you’d hope that Conte, the manager of the club, might be able to inspire the players to the point where they believe they can get a positive result.

Us on a forum though are simply being realistic, Anfield is the hardest place in the world to go right now and although the way they play suits us to some extent, their attacking power and midfield dominance will likely be too much for us to handle.

Almost every one of their players are better than the equivalent wearing lilywhite (with the only definite exception being Kane).

I’m as positive as they come about getting top 4 and I’m still wholly confident we will, it won’t be down to beating Liverpool at anfield though. Unfortunately as there’s no other place I’d rather win right now.

haha, I'd forgotten we actually drew at home to Liverpool. Can you imagine 10/12 points against City and Liverpool :woot:

As I say, probably there is some law that says it's illegal....we aren't allowed to have such things

Am I right in thinking that a draw at Anfield could only really matter for us if Arsenal end of dropping points in three out of four games? i.e. this is because we'll go past them if we loose at Anfield and win our final three games as long as they drop points in one more game than the NLD.

In other words, if we have a draw going into the last 20 minutes we really need to go for it.

We’ll have some chances on the break but the key is whether we can survive the storm they whip up when they attack in waves. If we can defend well, frustrate them and get the crowd nervous then we can cook. Big if, though.

The crowd got really nervous in the first half of the Everton game. I think we could capitalise on that.

The way I see it is, assuming we do the bare minimum (beating arsenal, Norwich and Burnley) then we have four chances to snatch 4th.

Spurs vs Liverpool
Arsenal vs Leeds
Newcastle vs Arsenal
Arsenal vs Everton

In my opinion, this game is the chance with the least possibility of an upset. It is the hardest game in world football right now so I won’t be too upset if the most likely result happens, they’re just a great team.

Agree. I'm fully expecting us to take an L against Liverpool but I then think we'll beat Arsenal and they'll drop points against Everton or Newcastle.

we can score against them alright by getting in behind their FBs, but the real problem is the mobility and pressing of their front line, and the lack of mobility and ability to play out from the back through the press by all but one of our defenders

They will also have three v two in central mid.

Oh and get all the decisions. Atkinson would be worst, then Pawson. Then Moss. Taylor might be alright.

They'll be baying for Harrys blood from the first whistle because he wasn't sent off in the first match. Hopefully shuts them up.
