Janssen can hold the ball up yes but he doesn't seek space. He seems abit static or maybe just doesn't have the agility and skill to turn or run the channels. An ok understudy to Kane if all you want/expect of him is to bring the AMs into play. I think he needs to do better.

It's funny how you just say he can hold the ball up like it's an easy skill. Showing the strength that he does with his back to goal in a league of this quality and having the ability to lay it off to team mates is very difficult, i'm actually struggling to name 3 other stikers in this league that show hold up lay as good as his. It really is a great part of his game and a skill that should be massivley applauded not just accepted.

I'm a huge Kane fan but when he has had this dip in form, 2 goals in 13 games, the rest of his game has also suffered and sometimes he has zero impact on the game, at least with Janssen you know 80% of the time you give the ball into him he won't lose it and link up play. Plus i love his attitude and he just had 90 minutes mid week, this guy has a lot to deal with now, he is leading the line for a big club in a new league. How anyone cannot be really happy with how is performing is pretty mind blowing.

Really happy with how we are developeing. OUR SQUAD, take a minute and look at it. What a fucking squad, we are spoilt for choice now, you compare this to the 30 odd years i've supported this club, what Levy and Poch have achieved and presented us with is quite amazing. I don't really see many weakness, we have a great mix of strength, technique, power and pace now. We have some truly talented younger individuals that can challenge for the first team in a year or two - Winks, Onomah, CCV, Edwards.

One further thing, Sissoko, it seems because of his price tag (lets call him a 20m buy because of the ridiculous inflation), he wasn't great yesterday but people seem to forget the impact of having such players on the pitch. Because of his pace and directness he attracted other defenders, thus making it easier for Eriksen and Son, he nearly scored it was a good save from their keeper and he is finding some match fitness. Let's support our players - he brings power and explosivness which is much needed when you look at Alli, Lamela, Eriksen etc, he adds some real balance to our team and a different option.

Great times, 2nd in the league, great youth team performance in the cup and the team starting to show higher energy levels and creativity.

I've skimmed through a few of the latter pages - plenty of whinging, which surprises me. Janssen is still getting to grips, but has already shown great ability to hold the ball up when tightly marked d feed the ball to a team mate - fantastic assist for Son's first! Secondly, we need to acknowledge we were missing Rose, Dembele, Dier and Kane from our strongest 11. Thirdly, we are second in the league having dealt with Dembele's suspension and various injuries. We should be celebrating, not whinging!
Not sure it should be a surprise tbh, the match and ratings threads are littered with the same guff every week, certain posters like to think being critical directly correlates with being knowledgable.

Glad to see we are all so miserable even after a long distance away win and 2nd in the league.
And completely miss the context of the game.

We struggled to hold on to a 2 - 0 lead over a very poor team one that will be fighting relegation itself and as one off it would have been fine, but it was not a one off, we have seen it for years and quite frankly I am getting sick of it.

And I think, many people would like to see us attacking to the end.

EDIT: Ooops, I meant attack.

Should still have product it is simple as that, otherwise we could have played a very fast youth player who is direct would have sufficed and saved ourselves £30 million. For that price range I want product as well.

This could be one of the most rounded comments I've read on this site. Life is great bring a Yid now. I remember the early 90s and all I can say is 'wow' by comparison...

I'm sick of us finishing higher than we have for nearly 30 years too! We are 2nd in the league, haven't conceded from open play yet, unbeaten and still have a few players working their way into the side. Eventually the sides that have spent big (with the possible exception of Chelsea as they look guff) will overtake us and the league will revert to the mean but we could have A LOT more to moan about.

Lets not turn into that lot down the road. Just enjoy the frustrating, exciting, nerve wracking delight that is THFC.

Plus on a slightly facetious note, nobody is holding a gun to your head. Don't like it, don't watch it

Where was the struggle? I must've missed it.

I think Poch and Son have both alluded to the issue in their interviews though, so they know it's a problem. Both said we need to be more clinical. It's something that I'm sure they will work on, and in time we will kill teams off. If we had, like Liverpool been playing Hull yesterday at home I think we could have won by 4 or 5 just as easily. It's not just about your own team, it's about the team you're playing against as well.

If we hadn't fought until the end, we wouldn't have won.

We should have been out of sight by half time but Poch did recognise that in his interview. It's not lost on them.

Sissoko wasn't great and his poor touch in particular was frustrating but give him time. I still like him as something we didn't have before.

My biggest frustration was the deep passing triangles between Lloris, Vertonghen and Wanyama just inviting unnecessary pressure onto us after their goal. Why do we put pressure on Lloris' kicking when it has consistently got worse for the past few seasons now?

Anyway, we looked great in the first half. Had a tough spell in the second but rode it out. The atmosphere in the away end was immense! Good times to be a yid.

I'm glad somebody brought that up, never mind the non penalty calls where in the fuck did he get 5 minutes stoppage time from when neither physio was called on to the pitch? Boro made 2 subs at the same time and we made 2 ourselves so where in gods name does he get 5 mins of added time from??

This is why I think officials needs investigating in this league, from where I was sitting it looked like they knew boro were pressing for an equaliser and decided to give them 5 mins, no other explanation makes sense, 5 mins was a ridiculous amount of time to add or am I wrong? Was the 5 mins justified?

And not only that, he blew the whistle whilst we were attacking right before half time.

Why moan about the 5 minutes? Did it cost us points? No! There are going to be games when we will be trailing and you are going to wish we had at least 5 minutes more!

Christ he's off again...
There were loads of subs and Sissoko was almost knocked out at one point....it was 5 minutes, not 15, hardly cause to 'investigate' the officials.

Such comments don't sit well with me. I prefer these well-known ones:
Audere est Facere

“It’s no use just winning, we’ve got to win well.”

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

You're a fundamentalist then.
