It would be great to see us start a game like we did in the 2nd half, but as long as we can turn it up I'm happy for the more structured start even if it can be a bit slow at times.

When we get going, it's great to watch though. Kulusevski and Bentancur are a huge upgrade! Really good to see them holding onto the ball and able to get it forward rather then sideways and backwards (yes they still do this, but know when they can get it forward)

I was a little worried that what Conte was wanting from the players we weren't going to see, but it really is taking shape.

I'm still expecting a bit of inconsistency at times, but it's taking shape.

That's the thing, though. No perfectly sane manager starts a game like that. You have a jab, you pop in a few cheeky combinations, you feel them out.

Then when you're on top, and you KNOW you're on top. Boom!

We were never not in control (again) in todays game. I think the result backs that up. And I think Conte would've simply let them know that half time, telling them that they can go for kill because there was nothing they could do to truly bother us.

I think we've scored something like 16 goals since that defeat against Middlesbrough, and conceded (I think) 5, with 3 of those being the Ronaldo show in a game where we were still the better team. We just got done by a legend (weirdly dropped for their next game).

Things are under control bud.

Just looked comfortable today. Admittedly against a poor side but we just had good performances all around the pitch and not too many brain farts or panicking. Romero stepping in beautifully just nips things in the bud. Bentancur was great too keeping things ticking over before zipping one through the lines. Lovely, lovely stuff.
Yeh , but also he is completely comfortable on the ball .It stop our playing out panic level . He can take the ball under pressure and calmly play out of the situation . Last 2 matches he has been on fire , what a player !

Great result better than expected.
Arsenal still have it to lose but the pressure is on. They've almost slipped up in some games but were able to rely on their lead to take the pressure off. That comfort blanket is now slowly eroding .

Question- will Palace not perform in the PL. as they are in a semi or will players be playing for their places.

Just looking through social media pics from the players and club and I know it’s a really easy thing to say but they all actually look like they’re good friends as well as team mates. They seem to have a good bond. Shows what getting rid of the shirkers can do.

Conte said Dier could be one of the best defenders in the world. Not that anyone believes him.
Will help that he is currently playing with Romero who may possibly be the best defender in the world.
St Maximen causes everyone problems but not today. Romero just too good.
If we can get 4 or 5 signings at the level of Romero, Benty and Kulu we will have a team to be proud of.

I noticed StMaximan goes to his right 99% of the time. Late in the 2nd half he tried and, I think it was Romero, just read him like a book, walled him, and took the ball off him.

On my way home from the game on a train ride to Bristol. I was unhappy with our selections at wing backs, only because due to injuries we were short. I don’t get the clamour for Bergy or Lucas there, these players have never played in that position. It’s not as easy as he’s fast, he’s attacking etc. You have to know the space you work in as a player, these are players that dont work in that space so it’s dumb to me to try to force em in there when you have actual defenders and wing backs who can. Despite their deficiencies, Doherty, Royal can. They know their position. That was evident today. Give em some support guys, it’s a fucking shit show for the first 30 pages of this match thread with the hatred. Don’t happy clap but don’t slag needlessly either.

Away, so listened to the game. Just watched the (poor) sky highlights. What I liked most was the effort made to get the ball in the net - the drive & hunger to get to the ball first. That kind of determination is what makes champions … Conte in full effect. Well played boys

I agree but I would actually say dier playing the way he does allows romero to be how he is..even with davies..that’s a cb 3 that’s looking pretty strong

If we continue playing like this, I reckon we could nick 4th at the expense of Chelsea. They have a really hard run in and hopefully going through their bad patch now.
