It's not baffling, he's not at the required level of fitness. Pretty simple really.

Huh? But he's played him already and even said at this stage he isnt ready to play the full 90 but will be an impact sub till then. I want to know why he wasnt a sub against leverkusen and Bournemouth.

I agree we dont have pace, but you can have all the pace in the world but if the tactics arent correct then you can easily be the slowest team. Our team can attack with pace, the problem is its our movement, our speed of passing and ultimately our tactics at present that dont allow any pace to be utilised.

We need to correct that.

And pace. Pace is a top commodity to have in the premier league and we don't possess it especially in the front 4
Sissoko is supposed to be one of the fastest players in the premier league, GKN isn't slow either and neither is Son

How about we go for brains to utilise the speed we have already

Interesting...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37740734

"We missed a bit of freshness that you need in the first 15 minutes," said Pochettino.

"Maybe we need more depth in the squad to avoid a situation like the first 15 minutes."
That is the craziest thing he has said since he has joined

I said earlier in the season, if it was any other manager, having youth players on the bench but not playing them was like a message to chairman that I havent been backed

Even last week Poch was angrily taking question about Wimmer and how he hasnt made the bench, his response was that the players on the bench have earned their spot over the established players yet there is a refusal to use them

So how do we need more depth yet are struggling to get our signings on the bench like GKN yet he has two fullbacks and a CB on the bench which is a bit overkill. Then only Winks and Sissoko as midfield options

Yeah and if we go back to the end of transfer window, his stance then was " i am happy with the team" "you know always i like a small team" etc and know he's questioning the depth of the squad? I wish someone asked him why GKN wasn't on the bench for the leverkusen and bournemouth games.

Could be he rates him as much as njie, stambouli

Who the hell buys the players

there are a lot of people writing a lot of tosh based on one statement - anyone thought that the comment may be for internal purposes to nudge a few players? Regardless, we are within a point of first place in both the Prem and CL having had a rough summer and start to the season with injuries, burn out and suspension. Feeling very good about where the team is and back Poch 100% - doesn't mean that is blind loyalty, its just giving the best coach at the club in a generation every benefit of every doubt because he has earned it

That's fucking scary after Pochettino's two most high profile signings. Both Southampton and Spurs have broken their transfer records on signingss specifically requested by Pochettino, and both have been fucking piss poor pieces of business for the clubs.

I like Poch as a coach enormously, but I sincerely hope Levy doesn't bend to this one. Poch has already blown a 30m hole (plus wages) in the transfer war chest on a fucking dud, giving him the cheque book could be catastrophic.

Yes I hope not too but I doubt it's true how could they know something like that Levy doesn't give anything away.

I absolutely agree with people's concern about Levy letting Poch decide which player to sign. Levy should be asking SC posters which player to sign and how much transfer money to pay.
I mean seriously Poch signed Wanyama who is not as good at holding and passing as Dier. Levy should have signed Schnedelin for 30m pounds and upgrade our midfield. Dont get me started on Toby the atheletico outcast.
Poch never gets any signing right unlike SC posters who have been 100% correct on every player.
Levy out!

As poor as Pochettino's subs turned out to be.

If Rose smashes in that Sissoko cross we are having a different debate.

The comments about depth are strange based on what Pochettino has said before but it is true I think that Spurs lack a couple of creative options.

I'm sure this is what he was referring to, as opposed to a squad wide issue. It can be no coincidence surely that our most jaded players seem to be Eriksen, Lamela and Alli. It might just be Pochettino having a realisation.

I think it's his way of saying step up or be replaced.. I don't think Eriksen is looking jaded & don't get the critcisim of him in last few weeks.. as far as I can see he is the main one trying to play at tempo & he is playing some good balls into space.. some of those around him aren't sharp enough & been caught on there heels expecting everything to feet.. well to break teams down you have to attack space & he has been playing the ball into those areas.. Overall as a team we are playing some really nice football up until we hit the last third..then the decision making is poor.. Lamela Dele Son are taking to many touches before deciding what to do with he ball.. that 1 or 2 second delay only helps defenders.

I wish I could Winner this more than once.

Every club has transfer hits and misses. What a load of fucking nonsense if people just selectively choose the misses as his signings and fail to acknowledge the hits. The transfer market and scouting in general is a fickle business. Everyone here on their fucking keyboards make it out as if it's so easy.

I don't mind discussion and debate, but the fucking arrogance from people on here as if they know better than everyone when it comes to transfers, team selection or utilisation of the youth is sickening.

A question. We are now a solid hard to beat team but is the price of expecting every player to be marathon runners always tracking back the fact that they have less energy for those short quick bursts of thought and action that break down defences? Poch has built a solid defensive team but our first thoughts are perhaps to run around a lot and defend with attack as an add on. The most consistently successful teams in the Premier League have been attack minded teams ... with of course decent defences ... built on the ability to score more than the opposition. Are the attacking abilities of the likes of Lamela, Eriksen and Son subsumed in the quest for how far they can run in 90 minutes?

Just thinking out load

Looking back at the games after the City game, we've had one game against WBA where we could easily have been out of sight by half time, one game against Leverkusen where we would normally had one goal by half time, and now this game where we simply didn't create enough.

It's not like we've been spending the last three games passing the ball between the centre backs. I do think we're a bit behind our best when it comes to speed and quality in attack, but it's more about fine tuning. Could do with one more genuinely goal scoring attacking midfielder. When Alli and Son came off on Saturday, we were never going to score.
