I wish I could Winner this more than once.

Every club has transfer hits and misses. What a load of fucking nonsense if people just selectively choose the misses as his signings and fail to acknowledge the hits. The transfer market and scouting in general is a fickle business. Everyone here on their fucking keyboards make it out as if it's so easy.

I don't mind discussion and debate, but the fucking arrogance from people on here as if they know better than everyone when it comes to transfers, team selection or utilisation of the youth is sickening.

So yourself and Eric_s acknowledge that our recent transfer business has been mostly good but then deride opinions that think changing said successful transfer system could be a bad idea? I'm missing something right?

What?

I don't think I've done that at all.

The reality is that very few here, unless they're ITK, have any clue about what goes on during the course of a transfer window, let alone individual transfers and whether specific transfers, be they good (Toby, Wanyama, Dier etc) or bad (Stambouli, N'Jie, Sissoko so far) are at the behest of the manager, or as a result of extensive consultation between a number of management and scouting parties.

To say Pochettino shouldn't have more control because of Sissoko and Stambouli is a complete nonsense if you're just going to ignore our successful transfers in the likes of Alderweireld and Wanyama. Who's to say which of those were the managers choice or not?

Yeah sorry I've been posting about this in the new thread about scouting so maybe got my wires crossed what thread I was in at the time. However I said earlier that I hope the news about Poch having more control isn't true but to explain I only think this because I don't want the current system changed so soon after we've started it. By and large it's worked well for us so I doubt we're suddenly going to give an individual more control. As for the signings we can't be sure who is picking who but it's hard to imagine that Mitchell didn't have a hand in Victor and Toby at both clubs especially since Toby was signed after Poch had left.

Not sure where to post this so fuck it ill out it in here

Anyone concerned that we have become dull? Im curious as to why or what has changed for us to be this dull this devoid of ideas. Last season we were energetic, enthusiastic, had drive and determination.

This season we are pedestrian, boring, slow, lacking movement etc.

Not sure why Poch will have changed it from last season when all it needed was some tweaking.

Yes we had two good games but the rest have been tough to watch.

Now you're seeing the reason he wanted Isco so much and why he says we need more depth, I think it's a genuine concern tbh.

I think isco would struggle because its the overall style and tactics adopted thats disconcerting

Don't think it's as easy as it sounds, genuine quality players don't grow on trees.

We should get pele or messi or ronaldo to procreate for us and from an early age we fucking train the kids asses off until we get the most complete footballers ... 18 years from now should do it,

Think we're just missing a link to the striker TBH

Befor the start of this season id have agreed and still do to a certain extent but a link etc would be nothing if our movement isnt improved or our creation of space becomes effective.

You know, I actually agree with you, not as a reaction to this game but in general over the season so far, take away the Man City game and Son's little flurry and it actually seems like the players are nowhere near the levels they got to last season.

Although me and you may differ in opinion on sucking dick as I mentioned earlier, I do agree that we have become pedestrian in the way that we play, we look like we lack spark and creativity and it certainly feels like sometimes our players just don't put the shift in that we know they can.

It may be tactical from Poch and him trying to be less aggressive to conserve energy over the season OR it may be that our players just don't get up for games, Man City is a prime example, if THAT team played every week we would be steam rolling teams but we don't see that energy every week, we seem to be a one half side or a side at the moment that only plays well in the attacking sense when we are getting desperate.

I also think teams have started to figure us out more and Poch doesn't really have a tactical plan B which is something he will have to figure out unless of course he wants the pattern to continue, I think a lot of people are hoping Kane is going to come back and everything will be fixed again but I am not so sure that is going to happen personally.

Forgive me for being a bit sarcastic, but shit ones do. GKN and Janssen was not what we needed, and echoed this in the summer. 'Anyways' they are here now, and miracles happen, even if a respected pundit (Souness) thinks different. We cannot at where we are st be signing unproven potentials as our key signings.

We are not dull. Our opponents make us dull.

We will improve and Learn how to defeat them more effectively.

Get used to it because that's Poch's philosophy.

Disappointed with Poch and the team selection. Football is about winning trophies and we had a good chance to win this, but with that team selection I already wrote off the game before kick off. I am all for giving youth a chance but not start all of them together with no experienced players backing them. The fact Eriksen, Son, Dembele and Alli were not even on the bench shows how much ambition we had to win this competition. I love Poch, but feel a bit let down yesterday.

The fact that the aforementioned weren't even on the bench shows that we are in a busy period and we need to rest players as much as possible also Dier, Wanyama, Lamela, Davies, Tripper are not experienced players?
