This is mental - but i dreamt about him El Hamadaoui last night! Seeing this is the only reason i've remembered it. We signed him and he was doing keepy uppies at his unveling with his socks rolled down to his ankles a la Steve Claridge style

But we did sign him. Can't remember keepy upies though:-(

Maybe that is possible, but my understanding is that there is a finite amount of bonds that can hold a real (excuse the pun) value. It's only come from a fan but is a discussion that is going on over there.

Again, this seems more plausible to me, but Wishkah seemed to think as long as there were punters happy to buy, the bond system could go on ad infinitum ?

I would have thought that the market for bonds issued by a Spanish club already leveraged to it's eye balls was getting thinner every day.

I've got a serious job with lots of responsibility.

And here I am, IPhone burning, opening SC every five minutes to see if he has signed. Sneaking here, sneaking there.

Couldn't give a fuck on the job, just give me Solgado you bastards :)

I know this sounds like crazy talk, but my friend in Madrid thinks Real are going to attempt to comply with Financial Fair Play. Hence buying modders on the cheap and selling a few excess players. It seems they can no longer rely on Spanish banks (who would have thought that skint banks can't subsidise football teams).

It seems the partnership agreement between the two clubs is not only about football, but about business accumen and cost cutting for both clubs. The only way to compete with Chelsea, City, Monaco and PSG is to "out business" them.

ok I am confused.

twice today I have seen someone write that they brought Modric on the cheap. Did we not get £30m for him?

I think transfermarkt have it listed as £26.6m and they've only paid about half so far according to LLM

Yep... not many deals involve all the money up front, so Real Madrid still owe us.

Glad LLM is keeping us sane this morning at least.

Considering how close we're supposed to be the ITK radio-silence is deafening.

JJ, POTL, Archie, Roger Morgan. I can't concentrate on anything else at the moment!
I can't comment on Roger Morgan, but Archibald has apparently stopped posting his info over at SpursOdyssey. This came to light over there when people started asking where Archie is and another poster brought up that Archie had decided to stop sharing info, but the poster didn't go to far into the reasons Archie had told him.

I don't have the link as this was just sent to me via text. Probably turkish football.com

"We are interested in Adebayor, the transfer could still go ahead," Orman said.

"The deal breaker for Adebayor was whether we would play in Europe this season, as soon as we are cleared I will travel to London and complete the deal."

if we get the players we are SUPPOSEDLY after we can finish top 3
Why say top 3?

If we get the signings we want, I want the goal to be winning the damn league!

There is no trophy for top 3 or 4 - even though Arsenal have proposed having one made - the only reasons it is a benchmark of success are: (1) CL qualification (2) pisses Arsenal off. Both are worthy causes but we must remember that 1st place also carries these benefits.

Aim high...

I don't know if a bond scheme could be covered by FFP and it seems to me that if Madrid were the only club that weren't complying with the rules, the likes of City/PSG/Monaco could use that to their advantage in any potential FFP related court cases (as has been rumoured). If Platini is serious about this then he'll have to make Madrid comply and from the last interview I read with him, he said the top clubs were in favour of it because they wanted to stop paying these massive transfer fees.

If FFP was brought in and went according to plan, Madrid would still be left at the top of the heap because they'd bring in so much revenue, now I don't know if that will help us sign Coentrao because he'd still have to want to come here. It's probably likely that they're pushing him towards the exit though and sending him to us would clear some of their debt.

Didn't they lose their appeal?

And this is why we would be even less inclined to sell Bale to them, in the knowledge he has high market value and they would find some way to NOT pay the full figure.

But no-one pays anything up front. (Except maybe City and PSG and Monaco). It's all Letters of Credit from banks isn't it? As per wishkah's (and my) beautiful explanations?

We should absolutely do business with Real Madrid for any of their surplus players that could be useful to us - and use the Bale bait for all it's worth.

This is Daniel Levy we're talking about. Madrid can talk about Bale all they like. And DL will almost certainly give them the impression that a favourable deal for Coentrao now will be rewarded with a favourable deal for Gareth Bale next summer.

But come next summer, DL will be as impossibly difficult to deal with as he ever was. Job's a good'un.

That's a shame, probably the most consistent ITK over the 6/7 years I have been following it.
