Levy would realise that doing that would cause a large percentage of the current squad to want to leave.

Agreed, if Bale was leaving he would need to do it BEFORE the start of the season so that everyone has time to get over it and move on. Could you imagine if was last day of season, it would totally upset the entire squad right as we are in the thick of it, well the thick of the start of it (the season).

No, if Bale was going, it would be done and dusted at the latest... latest after we presumably sign Soldado, so no... I don't think we are 100% safe jusssst yet, but i reckon considering everything I can't see him leaving this season, there is too much pointing to him staying. Football is a funny game though and we could be being bluffed, but I don't see it.

BT, EA all the advertising... you don't sanction that as a club or a player to then sell that player to another club. It makes no business sense to me as all the generated interest goes towards Real Madrid and anything Spurs related will be about how we sold this great player. So no, not yet.

In fact I am so convinced by own logic, 50squid to SC if he leaves this summer.

Interesting that LLM still mentions Higuain, as he seems set for Napoli, but maybe we had an option and chose to go for Soldado as our striker and therefore Coentrao instead (as it was always rumoured we would be after a LB this term and makes sense, BAE needs stiff competition!)

I firmly believe Coentrao as a separate deal is very much possible

First of all, player no more wants to be play for RM -as he feels he is not getting full support there and he said that in May.
Madrid wants to recoup the money spent on him and Perez has demanded nearly 20m euros when PSG came for him. They have not come back after that.
In fact he initially didn't train with squad for Lyon friendly and was not in the game though he travelled there.

He is clearly is on the out list of RM.

With no firm offer coming in, if we go with a reasonable offer, we could get him.

The really good news is that, if he did join, he could tell our Gareth all about how miserable and lonely he was at Real and put him off (he's spoken about all the various cliques there as well).:sneaky:

Coentrao and Soldado on top of Paulinho and Chadli would be unbelievable. However I am always nervous dealing with Real, they are a scummy club.

In other news Skybet have us as 6th favourites for the title, behind Liverpool at 40/1.... Crazy.

Levy needs bale for the stadium sponsorship, which will help build a stadium that will increase our revenue by about £60m a year. Name your price.

That's purely because they are even more deluded than us when it comes to club expectation. If there are thousands of Scousers throwing their money away then they have to lower the odds as a safety net just in case the practically impossible, by some crazy unimaginable circumstances, happen and Brendan 'David Brent' Rodgers takes them on to win the league.

Soldado alone would be unbelievable!

That's nothing to do with SkyBet. It tells you nothing more or less than the insane delusion and passion for gambling of Liverpool fans.

Crazy, indeed.

i think you are right. I am beginning to think Bale is holding back on signing a new deal until we have given him a new striker to play with

You see I don't understand this logic. Bale knows he will go soon, next season, the season after when ever it will be. Why on earth would he not take a pay rise in the mean time, just because we haven;t got a striker?

I know this sounds like crazy talk, but my friend in Madrid thinks Real are going to attempt to comply with Financial Fair Play. Hence buying modders on the cheap and selling a few excess players. It seems they can no longer rely on Spanish banks (who would have thought that skint banks can't subsidise football teams).

It seems the partnership agreement between the two clubs is not only about football, but about business accumen and cost cutting for both clubs. The only way to compete with Chelsea, City, Monaco and PSG is to "out business" them.

I'm very skint, but I will throw £100 in if Bale leaves this summer

I'd take Coentrao if BAE is indeed off.
If we land Soldado too, that'd be a pretty good summer. I'd be happy with our business.
Keeping AVB and Bale. Coentrao to refresh/upgrade at LB, Paulinho to add power in CM, Chadli improving our wide options and Soldado upgrading our striking dept.
I think one of Defoe/Ade may then be replaced by a youngster, happier to play third choice, with one on eye on the longer term (Soldado 27/28, Ade 29, Defoe 30/31, we need done succession plan).
Trim out a few fringe players. Maybe add one or two more reinforcements, in the shape of some Baldini inspired youngsters for CD, CM etc.
The interesting links have been Song/Sanchez earlier in the week and Ljajic yesterday. Not necessarily positions we need to comtinue to strengthen, unless we are planning further departures?
FWIW, in my opinion (total guesswork), Soldado will be done before Valencia's game Sunday. Seems a good case of timing, they don't want it hanging over them, and could theoretically announce a replacement at the game if they are already working on it. "The king is dead, long live the king" in the centre circle at half time etc.

Because it ties him down for longer? I'm not sure, if he signs a new 5 year deal, then I think the worry is that we will make him see out at least two more years, that isn't a big deal if we invest heavily and match his ambition but if we don't...... I think Bale is just taking it one season at a time, if he continues to improve and so do we I can see him sticking round for a while, if we don't he will just move on. A new contract will get signed at the end of the window i'm sure as he will want the pay rise, but the length will probably be vastly dependent on the business we do.
