Also Alex is 29 and Benayoun is 31.

Did you just make up the ages there?

Rough estimates. Either way a little older than what Arsenal usually go after.

Mertesacker having his medical at Arsenal.

The Manchester Evening News report that former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is on the verge of joining neighbours Manchester City. Hargreaves has been pictured coming out of Bridgewater hospital - where the club conduct their medicals - with the Manchester City doctor.

No chance do City have room in their squad for Hargreaves.

Aquilani will do well at AC Milan I think. He suits Serie A and provided he can get over his injuries he should replace Pirlo.

:)

There must be a reason why they want him, they apparently bid for Van Bommel.

Because it's Mancini's dream to field a team that consists entirely of defensive minded midfielders.

David Santon has signed for Newcastle on a 5 year contract, a top signing that!!!

Yes and No, if he has come to play LB than no, he was the worst player in the rafa era, and his criticism was harsh but his positioning was poor at times

Mertesacker might be moving to Arsenal. How do you (you being the few posters here who watch german football) think he would fare in the english game?

He has alot of experience for his age but I've always been more impressed with Friedrich when watching the national team.

Wasnt the last news that he was about to sign for arse?

Different player. Arsenal are about to sign Santos from... Fener?

I expect him to do good and improve them. Like you said he has already alot of experience but should still be able to improve. He had a dip in form the last year as most of the Werder players, but seemed coming back to his old self the last weeks.

Like beats1 said, hes beatable in one on ones, cause his not the most mobile CB around, in german we have the word "hüftsteif" for those kinda players, maybe if you look for translations you can find out what I mean by that, because I dont know how to translate it if my live depended on it

With Hummels, Höwedes, Badstuber and Boateng he now has alot of good competition in the national team, and I guess its up to him to fight back for his spot, what I expect him to do.
