I don't know but S&B's comments have slowly gone from them bidding 17m to them bidding 14m to them being interested, so I'd wager he doesn't either.

I don't recall whether he qualified either with a currency tbh, however to have gone from either to now being extremely interested is a step back and in typical ITK fashion suggests he didn't actually have anything more than media whispers to go on in the first place.

per Honigstein, Arsenal inquired about Mario Gotze and Dortmund said €35M...that doesn't seem that unreasonable! I wouldn't expect him to leave Dortmund come to us (or Arsenal), though.

I just loved the Sky Sports story earlier of how they have enquired about Yossi Benayoun and are interested in Alex.

To sum up their transfer activity in the past week or two.
£6m is as much as Arsenal can pay and be happy to pay it and nothing more for a young English CB with Premiership experiance and multiple clubs that are interested.
They would not pay the original release fee for Juan Mata and he later signed for Chelsea for around £10m more than the original release fee.
Arsenal look to replace Samir Nasri with Yossi Benayoun who is likely to be available for £2m of the £24m recouped from selling Nasri.
They are also now apparently looking to sign Alex from Chelsea who is getting on but is a good player with EPL experiance, however the real reason is that he won't cost more than the £6m they are willing to pay for a CB.

Adding to this. Did Wenger really miss the prime oppertunity to replace Cesc? I mean Jimmy Bullard was available on a free 3/4 days ago!

I love how tight Arsenal are and anticipate the demise of the club that will come from it.

So if I am right in thinking players in the regions of
Andre Santos - 30
Alex - 32
Yossi - 33

Are Arsenal's Saviours. Really?

Santos is 28 from Fenerbahce LB apparently deal is £6.2m.

I thought he was a little older but knew he was around 28-30 region.
I believe that he has also played a few times for Brazil so isn't too bad but I just find it funny how instead of going against Wenger's spending policy and also what seems to be a 'not buying high profile players' policy they instead intend to delve into the age policy a little more which they have done with a couple of players that have been older than in the past over the past couple of seasons. I would be shocked and very happy if they signed all these players that are near or past 30 years of age though.

Also Alex is 29 and Benayoun is 31.

Did you just make up the ages there?

how has shaqiri not gone anywhere from basel? surely he would be worth a punt for a few quid as an alternative to lennon?

eriksen i can understand as he's said he doesnt want to leave ajax although he looks class. despite this i couldnt imagine he would cost the earth considering.

leandro obviously is an option but havent seen enough to pass judgement. seems strange that these sort of players havent been targeted by levy. despite the supposed rift between harry and levy, these players would be wanted by whatever manager came in, or indeed if harry stayed. i know its easy to say from outside the club but still...
