Its a sequence of problems.
Firstly we should of been buying a top quality CB over the summer. We tried and failed, but we should of gone for another quality CB instead of dropping down the ladder of quality so to speak. And this all should of happened much earlier in the window.
It was something we were crying out for, and I thought the whole point of off loading Dawson was that we were in for a serious upgrade in that position.
So had we acquired a top class CB, who should be partnering Vertonghen, how on earth would Kaboul have made captain?
It all stemmed from there IMO.
Just one fuck up after another. Kaboul should never of been a serious candidate for the captaincy had we gone about our recruitment properly.
The implications of not getting in a much better CB to partner Vertonghen are huge. Not to mention the inexplicable handling of the latter at present.
To be honest I'm just lost for words, but not surprised that our transfer dealings have once again come back to bite us in a big way.
When will Levy learn. Understands the price of everything and the value of nothing in terms of the teams needs.
And this is coming from someone who has been very pro Levy.
I completely agree with the first few lines. But it's not always about Levy and value. I'm pretty sure Fazio was on Pochettino's list (Argentinian he would know well from his time in Spain) and was probably more Levy trying to get Pochettino his second choice - I'm pretty sure Levy would have happily stck with Dawson rather than pay for Fazio. Again, I'm sure that was down to Pochettino wanting shot.
Unless you know different - and I'm sure you don't - then it's not fair to blame it on Levy.
