Because he's the one who should be picking the bloody captain, not letting the players dictate who it is

But the captain is the player on the pitch the team will look to for leadership. He should be respected by his peers. No point choosing someone who the team doesn't think is best otherwise you immediately create division.

The fact that from asking the players who should lead them and the best they could come up with was Kaboul or Ade should have sent shockwaves there and then...

I think he is a good captain.
He buzzes around the refs respectfully and I think he influences them.
And when anything starts to kick off, he breaks it up and no-one messes with him. No-one.
The problem is that he is not a very good CB.
I'd play him at RB - he likes to have a gallop up field.

I agree with those things but shouldn't a captain be good enough at football to warrant a place in their team? It's just been one mistake after another for a long time now from Kaboul.

My theory is Poch made Ade vice captain to get him on his sid. He saw what a disruptive influence he can be.
He wanted a striker but we couldn't afford one, So realising that's he's stuck with Ade and seen what a disruptive influence Ade can be, he tried to get on his good side by making him captain

Well that worked..

Can you imagine a fergie, jose etc picking a captain for those reasons? very worrying.

The moment i heard Kaboul and Ade were his choice i thought ''..:wtf:'' and started to worry.

I think it makes perfect sense that they'd choose Kaboul or Ade - neither of those are likely to challenge them, push them or bollock them. Easy street.

Poch's reaction should have been to say a big 'no' to them settling for mediocrity and choosing somebody (Hugo) himself.

If my new manager at work asked me who I thought should be the new team leader, I'm not going to pick the best guy for the job, I'm going to pick the guy who gonna make my life the easiest...surely this is human nature?
Meritocracy surely beats democracy in this instance.

Kaboul and Ade don't seem to be making his life easy.

Kaboul and Ade don't seem to be making his life easy.

Lets try reversing that! As the aim is we want the players to play better. The coach does not make the player life easier.

The whole squad look like are not making his life easier.

I don't think it will be reversed. When players don't want to play for the coach, we all know where it leads...

Shows weakness if you allow your players to pick your captain imo.......Poch had all summer to work it out for himself, and what did he see in Kabouls form that would make him feel he would play him everyweek

who is this Shirley? Is she Poch's wife? Can we blame her for the present troubles like Harry did when saying 'My wife could've scored that?"

why has Kaboul stopped picking up all the niggly injuries that we're keeping him out the side last season and the year before?!

unfortunately for him, it could do us a favour if they started happening once more

Hopefully it's different this time and we get rid of those players, rather than the manager.

Apart from Hugo (who will probably be off soon anyway) and some of the youngsters, there is nobody I care about losing.

But we are still, as sit at the beginning of another long international break looking like our team is playing bereft any meaningful coaching and its getting worse.

The best example is Eriksen, he looks like he so demotivated and could well be off in January. I can see Jan and Lloris not waiting till the summer. They all looked totally puddled yesterday. Now miracles of miracles and Poch turns it round I will have the biggest grin on my boat race. But...........I'm not sure he has too long to sort it.

I really think people need to go a watch the game again yesterday. I was a a how not to video. Great goal from Nacer great ping!

Poch missed a massive opportunity to stamp his authority on the club early by letting the players choose the captain.

Should of worked harder at getting sandro fit and given him the armband. He's got the lot, players and fans respect, never shirks a tackle and a true leader. We haven't got a single leader throughout the club. Sad sad state of affairs

The worrying this is, Lloris will 100% be sold in the summer. That is one Vice Captain down.

That leaves Adebayor and Kaboul.

I'd like both gone for different reasons, but will Pochettino and Levy for that matter get rid of both? I'm at a loss on what to expect.

If Kaboul stays he will remain captain and continue to be played week in, week out. Making stupid mistakes and costly errors.

If Adebayor stays his poisonous attitude stays at the club and his poor performances are almost a certainty to continue, with Pochettino's pressing game once again being non-existent due to Adebayor's poor work rate and lack of ability to start the press.

Dark times.
