At the time I was happy to move him and Stambouli on because I did not consider it a possibility that our management would be so incomprehensibly stupid to leave us this short of options.

Who are these plenty more options? As I seem to recall, 99% of those options have gone or signed new contracts. The main ones were the German lads and McCarthy and we won't be getting them now.

I don't want to have to keep putting up with Stambouli like signings...there is literally no point! Like I said, we have had 2 seasons to sort this out now. I really hope we do have other decent options but I just can't think of anyone decent left on the list.

Haven't we been looking at Ajer, Vogt, Rode and Hojbjerg? That's just off the top of my head.

I remember seeing similar footage of Willian in a London hotel a couple of years ago, waiting for his imminent deal to us to be concluded.. What is actually said in the interview? Nothing is completed until it's completed this time of year. Rode being the only decent option out of them and BM blatantly wont let him go. No matter what...it is silly that its got to this stage. We should have just signed McCarthy and been done with it.

Ajer and Hojbjerg are both very talented. Another name that's popped into my head is Tielemans, though I think we may have been linked in January.

And this is all before turning to an old stager as a loan option. McCarthy was never going to be easy to get, nor a step up if we're being honest.

We need first team quality not just youngsters with potential though. McCarthy is definitely an upgrade on what we have and I'm sure one of the ITK's said it was a deal we could have pulled off if we wanted to.

I just feel like we will be scraping the bottom of the barrel now for a position that is the no.1 priority for us.

Regardless of the fact RS are his old club, i don't see why he would choose them over us if we were truly after him as we are a much bigger club that would probably offer him more money. I am very curious to know who we actually want to buy for the CM position.

Ajer is still only 17 so I can't see him being ready for the EPL for another 3-4 years adn Højbjerg really isn't a DM anchor type of player.
