It was while he was warming up with Huddlestone, every time he came near our end he was booed, so he was quite sheepish in his warmup and stayed half way down the touchline, whereas Hudd, O'Hara, King, Gunter and Bale all came right to the bottom of the touchline and got cheers/claps/songs.

It was quite difficult to see really, because you just know how badly he would've taken that.

Probably why he actually played like he cared when he came on.

Thanks for the report.

I'm not surprised he was booed (though I don't support booing any of our players) - we've had plenty of folks on here saying they just want him to feck off etc etc so it doesn't surprise me that some of the crowd that travelled up to Boro would do likewise.

At half time it was clear that he was doing the serious warm up rather than just a kick around but it seemed as though the other subs weren't speaking to him.

There were quite a lot of people booing when he came on but there were also people like me cheering him on very loudly and trying to hold back the tears because this man is an absolute footballing genius and he has given us two amazing years. It is gutting that he is off but in the first three minutes when he came on he showed everyone else how to do it - he was awesome.

It was so sad that he couldn't even come over at the end to applaud us / say godbye because of our supporters booing him. Gutted.

I can understand their frustration to be honest. His lack of loyalty = our lack of loyalty for him
The archetypal quote for this is Barca's banner when Figo played for Madrid there, and was subject to extreme mental and physical abuse:

"We hate you so much because we loved you so much".

Booing a world class player whilst he's still wearing your shirt is very bad form imo.

What a heartfelt post.

And because we still need you so much.

It sounded like most (but certainly not all) of them to me.

Your wrong fella, it was a minority. It just got amplified because there was a lull in the game hence not much noise from the crowd. I was one of them also who was cheering him. Be careful Spurs fans what you wish for as it will be a bloody long time before you see a striker of the class of Berbatov pull on our lillywhite shirt again!

but it wouldn't matter if we cheered him, he's already said he wants to go and another rendition of the berbatov song ain't gonna change fuck all!

Its better for Spurs in the long run to resolve the issue quickly. Since Berbatov came to the club, immediately reference to UTD where made via his agent, his father, and most of the Bulgarian media. We've basically gone back wards in terms of league position since his arrival but have been seduced by his undoubted brilliance...at the end of the day his wants out.

I'd much rather he left with his poor attitude (why isn't he playing = because he has a poor attitude) and bring in replacements who want to play and achieve things at THFC.

Jog on Berba!

So did Barry say he wanted to go to Pool, but they aint got the dosh so he aint going.

Until Fergie coughs up what Levy's asking, neither will Berbs go.

As I've said before, EVERY player wants to play in the CL, whether or not CL qualified clubs want to pay for them is another matter.

So far MU have bid 20 mill, an insult, and I hope Berbs is asking himself the question, why aren't they going the extra mile to get me the way Pool did for Keane?

THAT'S the mystery.

They've spent more time gobbing off to the press every 5 minutes.

Hear hear - and while we do know, Kendall, that singing one song is not going to make him stay, we also understand that what happened today meant he couldn't come down our end, would have made him even more keen to get the hell out, and would have sent a pretty uncomfortable message to other forwards who may or may not be considering a move to the Lane. If we are hoping to attract someone of the sublime quality of Berbatov it is highly unlikely that they would see us as the pinnacle of their career unless we get into the Champions League. They may give us a couple of years and see if it gets us there, otherwise they, too, will be off.

I think the treatment Dimitar received from some, but by no means all, of us was unjust and did the cause no good at all.

We are happy enough to take other great players - like Luka Modric, for example. He wanted to move on to bigger and better things. Now think of his last home game and the treatment the crowd gave him.

Now think of this afternoon.

No, but it'd be nice to show some appreciation for the last couple of years.

Personally, I'd rather it end on a nice note, i.e. round of applause both from the fans to Berbatov and from Berbatov to the fans, than a sour one, i.e. the fans being given a last chance to bid farewell and instead using it as an opportunity to boo him.

I'm not wrong. I was sat in the West Upper in perfect position to hear it. Not in the away end amongst the boos and cheers where it can quite deceiving. It certainly wasn't a minority compared to what our fans were in full voice, lull or no lull.

When he was subbed on, the booing and cheering were about equal.

I was in block 56, row 35 and can assure you that it was the minority. They were drowned out by the cheers eventually. Either way it was an embarrassmant on our club/fans they way that minority behaved.

Thankyou don1 - it's been a long and upsetting day - it's a long way to travel to see that kind of dreadful performance and then the way he was treated. I feel very emotional about it all - perhaps things will seem better in the morning?
