With players like King and Woodgate being so injury prone, lack of a quality defensive midfielder, error prone players such as Dawson and the fact that we are so keen on destroying our excellent strikeforce which kept us up last season, we could find ourselves in a relegation battle. We need to keep Berbs regardless of whaetever.

How are we keen? Is Levy singing from the rooftops? No! If both players made it very plain they wish to leave, what can you do other than get the best deal for them? Ramos has said he does not wish to keep players who do not want to be here.

Here he is, the good looking bastard. All 7 mins of the impromptu press conference at the VIP exit at Sofia Airport yesterday. He's a master at doing this now, it happens every single time he returns to Bulgaria during the season. And he always flirts with that same female reporter, creep.

BG speakers, any further enlightenment? He seems to have spoken a very long time for not saying very much if that's the case?

I see he got his supplies of fags and squirrel nuts from the Duty Free shop.

Whenever I see Berbatov do an interview these days I think he seems very different to how he was 2 years ago.

I think he's believed his own hype too much.

He's just a very different person altogether in Bulgaria than he is here. It's like chalk and cheese most of the time.

It's the same interview Petyr had posted, the rest is for the national team mostly.
There's new one today, he's quoted saying "I've spent two wonderfull yers in Tottenham, if I have to be honest, a was in the right place in the right time, with the right people. The PL realy gave me so much, I bacame more finished player. I would never say a bad word for anybody in Spurs."
Asked how he copes with all the noise around him, he said "with meditation (I dont know if it's the right word in English - eastern yoga thing with deep breathin and stuff), but here in Bulgaria it's more calmly, in contrast to England"

Sounds like farewell words to me.

I think Berbatov will be joining Manchester United this week, probably for around 28 million. Hopefully we can have him in time for the Portmouth match next Monday. I think it would be of no value to the Hotspurs to keep him out of spite, why have a moody player sitting in the reserves when you can recieve 28 million and invest that money in new players. Also, if transfer targets for your club see that you treat players badly and do not let them move to the next level you will have trouble attracting quality players. So I think it is the best for everyone if his transfer to Manchester United is concluded in the next few days.

How about you email Sir Whisky Nose to pay the asking price. Then the deal can go through as quick as you like.

It is ridiculous to suggest the club are not letting him move out of spite. We are not letting him move because Manure are trying to make mugs of us by bidding silly prices for a world class player.

Pay the money and he's yours, end of.

Why does that kind of arrogant response from a Utd fan not surprise me.

Ha ha ha. Get real.

We own an asset. You want to buy that asset. We quote you a price. If you want the asset you pay the money. If you don't pay the money the asset stays with us. What part of that is too complicated to understand?

And your second from last sentence is laughable when you support a team that has refused your star player's wish to move to Real Madrid.

"The Hotspurs"? Methinks your location is anywhere but Manchester, England. It's surprising that Berba wants to go to United when he has seen the poor treatment of Ronaldo, not letting him move so he can progress to the next level.

I agree, it does, and thanks for the latest info and translation.
Yes, Meditation is exactly right.
Was this an interview given after training today? I guess it'll be available tomorrow online. Though I doubt those words will make their way into the UK Press, as there's no pleading to Fergie to come get him, and it's on the whole complimentary to Spurs. A pity he doesn't make those statements over here, but we know he's anxious about being misinterpreted due to his English (which is actually very good, but he's shy about it).
I guess that answers the question why did he join us in 2006 when he could have gone to MU? Because he wanted to test himself in the PL with us first, and if successful, then move on. At least we had his ilk for 2 years.

Ramos has also said that he would like to keep Berbatov

Are you talking about those anodyne comments in last Thursday's press conference at the Lodge? Then why didn't he play him on Saturday then? Because he's already trying to establish a team without his services, and ofcourse he'd like to keep a player of his quality, but he doesn't wish to stay, and Ramos knows that.

You requested in your previous post that I should not believe everything I read? Some of us get information from several sources and cross reference everything before we come to our conclusions about what is likely to be happening, not simply on what the Sun says, although if the Sun uses quotes of a specific type, then we know it's more than likely to be his Agent that's briefed them, so we can take it he wanted the information in the public domain. Not ALL press stories are total crap, especially as Danchev is well known to speak to reporters, you just have to distinguish between the crap and the reports with a source who is at the centre of the story.

He's no different to how he always appears in Bulgaria, as I've said, it's his persona here that is strange, ie morose and withdrawn.

The area of Bulgaria he comes from Blagoevgrad is known for being boisterous and sociable.

I think this is the gorgeous swine coming away from training today. :hump:

Why don't you ask that red faced git who is your Manager, and his lackeys in the Press, why Berbatov is not worth paying any more than the 20 mill you've bid for him?

Strange that. Gay Boy Ronnie is worth 70 mill, Quasimodo Tevez is worth 32 mill, but Berbatov, who you need, and we don't wish to sell, is only worth 20?

That's Mancs for you.

BTW when Ronnie leaves you next Summer to go on to a bigger and better club, don't cry in your hankies, but wish him a fond farewell, cos remember, he's only fulfilling his dreams.

I dont get why other teams fans come on our website, as if taunting us about Berbatov is going to have any effect on the transfer! It just confirms, more than anything else, that you are a bit of a gimp with too much time, and too little friends.
Now, Phaaack orf back up North.
At the end of the day, Manchester looks like ass.

I've actually just read an article in the press that accurately sums up the current state of affairs regarding Berbatov, Spurs and MU.

Excuse me while I faint with shock.
Nothing new for followers of the thread, but it encapsulates everything for those in a hurry or any deluded passing Manc supporters or Woolwich Wanderers on the loose.

Unsurprisingly it's not a named author but a Press Association piece, so the reporter is interested in the facts with no agenda and no axe to grind.

Tottenham reluctant to bow to Berbatov
PA
Monday, 18 August 2008

Dimitar Berbatov wants his future sorted out as soon as possible but Tottenham appear in no hurry to force a deal despite the Bulgaria striker handing in a formal transfer request.

It is understood that Berbatov handed in his request on Friday to sporting director Damien Comolli and chairman Daniel Levy, the day before he was named on the bench in the 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough.
Earlier in the summer, Levy feared Berbatov would have a negative influence on the dressing room after making it clear he wanted to leave for Manchester United.
United had a bid of £20.5m rejected last month and have not made another formal offer, although Tottenham have insisted they do not want to sell.
However, the transfer saga has entered a crucial stage following Berbatov's request, followed by comments on his arrival for international duty.
"I'm now in Tottenham but no-one can disagree with me wanting to follow my dream," said Berbatov, who told reporters he wanted everything sorted by the end of the week. Tottenham's stance means that is unlikely to happen.
The 27-year-old, as captain of Bulgaria, was expected to fulfil media duties ahead of the friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday but did not face the cameras.
Spurs are continuing to look at forwards before the end of the transfer window. At the moment they are concentrating away from Zenit St Petersburg's Andrei Arshavin, but could return to the Russia if other avenues are blocked.
"We still have a lot of time, we will see," said Dennis Lachter, Arshavin's advisor.
Zenit claim to have lowered their asking price to below £20m, with boss Dick Advocaat needing to sell before entering the transfer market himself.

I saw video interviews with 3 Bulgarian players, and caught a glimpse of Berba walking past with a cup of coffee, he usually stops to talk to the press, but is clearly fed-up of answering the same questions.

I simply don't understand why we would consider selling Berbs to Man U for any reason. He's under contract. His wishes should be irrelevant. If he breaks a leg we are still paying him and it should work both ways.

Tell Berbatov - "ok we get you want to play CL football (although you did at Leverkusen anyway) but we refuse to sell you to a premiership club in the CL. It's very simple, it's not in our best interests to make one of the 4 clubs we are chasing better at their most important need position while selling our best player and weakening us at a need position. If we get fair value for you from another club (and this is at least 28m IMO)we will sell you if and only if we have a replacemenent lined up who we want, not who is possible convenient. We have the whole team to think about and while we'd like to accomodate you we cannot."

I'd then tell Man U you aren't getting him at any price it makes no sense and to stick it up your arse. You can have him in exchange for Ronaldo.

If Berbs were to play poorly or sulk on purpose or what have you then make him play with the reserves - he would be in the wrong, however, he has never done that. At Boro he played magnificently in his short spell on the ground. Worying about 'on purpose poor play' is something I don't think I've ever seen in pro sports with the possible exception of Manny Ramirez and he's a dbag.

- Man U said Real Madrid cannot have Ronaldo - that move made no sense for Man U
- Zenit said we cannot have Arshavin for less than 20m (or so they say) - that would make no sense for them

I'll toss in an American perspectie (which I'm sure will invalidate my post for many) but in any case if Tom Brady got hurt and Peyton Manning wanted to play for New England they would never, trade him to the Patriots for any reason whatsoever.

Why should we be Man U's b*tch club? Why isn't there more outrage rather than resignation?

Levy is obviously not getting with the program....Big Four club has a striker issue and so we are supposed to do all we can to help them out and give them Berbatov. Don't you realize that this is what the media expects? Why is Martin O'Neill making Liverpool's life so difficult, they need Gareth Barry so why won't he just sell to them?

Great post. Couldn't agree more.

Now stop speculating and wait until it becomes official whether he stays or goes, but I lean towards the former. Levy is no prick.
