It's just hard to see him all happy because of the way he has behaved. I would geniunely be happy for him if he said 'I want to go to United, because it's all I ever wanted', and then played as well as he could within the circumstances - instead of what we are dealing with now.

It's also very annoying because of the way Man U have acted - not having permission etc.

Shucks!

if there is no permission granted and man u just went ahead and tapped up the player - well they MUST be fined heavily and have a huge points deduction. OR what is the point of rules.

What the top 4 rules or the rules for the rest of us?

It is clearly a rediculous situation, and they should be punished if this is the case. But let's face it, nothing will happen. You can't even get away with scoring a goal against Man Utd at their place - what makes you think their administrative process is not party to the same 'rules'.

This is what really makes football a joke. At the end of the day, we just have no say so there is no point in having a rule!

for £30m+ my guess is DL gave permission. It's a great profit and he was a dud player for us now. Offload him, get the cash, do the best we can for now and if we have to wait till January then so be it.

better than getting nowt/a lot less for him later

Well, we are just moving closer and closer to an American football situation of a draft to pick the best players. At least in that sport there are no illusions that it is all about the money. It doesn't matter about teams, loyalty, territory - the best players go to those that pay and those that they want to go to.

What really should happen is that there should be a publication, or a governing body - seperate of the FA's player registration body - that handles, independently, the communication between players, agents, managers and clubs. Almost like a mediation board, but not for profit.

Appointments need to be made, and kept. If not all the relevant parties are present there is no deal and no story. Obviously there would need to be rules about the players not being 'held to ransom' by clubs - as has been suggested with the current system. But doing it that way would make sure that everyone knows whats going on when. Also, it would stop this transfer window madness of panic deals being done at the last minute.

Well said. It just seems that although everyone is clearly frustrated with Man U taking the piss and SSN etc are reporting what they've done, Man U will still more than likely sign Berba and nothing else will ever be made of it.

It's not right that they should be allowed to get away with this. Simple as.

IF MANU have done this the naughty way then this MUST be punished - i'm sure FIFA will get involved.

The thing that depresses me the most is the attitude, not only from Man Utd, their fans and players but also from the press. There is almost this acceptance, like a offensive, drunk relative at a party - you just have to deal with it because no one else will tell him.

I say fans of Man Utd because you know that you will get - like I do from all my friends who are fans of top 4 clubs - veiled comments that are them basically saying 'You didn't actually EXPECT to be able to compete with our team did you?'. I've had the shrugs and the looks of 'Huh, what can you do?' And they're right, what can you do? Really, it is getting to the point where that is it. There is no point because there is no competition, as soon as you get anyone decent they get a whiff of money and f*** off somewhere else.

I guess we should just get used to it, these are the rules of business after all....

yup ive had it all day, people are surprised that we have managed to keep him till the last day, seriously its getting to the point where there is no point, united can run rough shot over everyone without any consequences, the game in this country is being run by a bunch of suits who are too afraid to act on any reports on them.

i just hope that levy sticks it too them by accidently not sending the fax off in time.

I was thinking of that. Getting some work experience to try and work the fax machine, then *accidently* spilling something on it.

But I hate it, from my own mates, that they are amazed that I thought that we might keep our OWN player that has 4 years left on his contract. Also, equally amazed that I thought we shouldn't just have accepted £20m or whatever Man Utd's first bid was.

Honestly though, this sort of crap has been happening to Championship teams for ages. It is even more pertinent to those clubs, as they simply can't afford to say no.

From BBC Transfer watch:
"2317: Breaking news which I told you at 2236: Hull City Chairman Paul Duffen tells BBC Radio Humberside that he expects Manchester United striker Frazier Campbell to join Spurs as part of Dimitar Berbatov deal. 'I told you so' is such a cheap phrase, don't you think?"

Wouldn't it be f***ing brilliant if that happened and Campbell scored the winner against them at Old Trafford?

Yes. Yes it would.
