I think the source quoted by Guardian is Berbatov's agent himself.

During his last p/c he said something similar re Carrick and Spurs/Man U relations

you've just confirmed my thoughts - I was pretty certain it would be Danchev - I think there will be more of this over the next couple of weeks as time is running out for decisions to be made, I still think we are in the driving seat here and MU have to be careful how they act considering their complaint against RM :)

the guardian article is most likely man u just trying to upset the player to help drive the price down. glad the article points out the fact that man u are doing the same to us as madrid did to them over ronaldo, maybe we should report THEM to fifa!

these two pieces contradict each other mate: if it was the former it wouldn't say the latter

any reasonably well-informed fan who had a bit of an agenda could have cobbled (and the link with cobblers is deliberate :) the Carrick/Berba story together -

Of course we have history, of course there are agendas at play (is this phrase allowed or am I working my metaphors too hard :)

The so-called 'back to training deadline' was never gonna stick, in the media's domain anyway. Until/unless Berbs signs a new contract or moves, the whole circus (and just who is the ringmaster?) will carry on till August and probably a sight longer than that too

The Berbatov circus will be in the media's mind as long as there are no 'bigger' or fresher stories for them to hang their hats on.

While the likes of Ronaldo and Adeboyer are consuming their thoughts the Berbatov situation will stay more under the radar, so hopefully players from 'bigger clubs' can continue to keep the press busy for as long as possible and serve to defuse our own concerns until the start of the season.

I would not be suprised to see Utd sign Hunterlaar as (from what I have seen) he seems to be more of an out and out striker the Berbatov and may well complement their team better then other options.

I too think Utd are our only real concern for losing Berbatov at this stage, so the longer the Ronaldo sage drags out the better for us (their main concern will be to hold on to him)

I am confident at this stage that Berbatov will be a Spurs player come the start of the season. Interest in him seems to blow hot and cold with his form so if we and he get off to a good start interest in him could explode again and we would have a repeat of the usual drama come January.

Hopefully we can do so well that we show we can match his ambition and he will sign a new contract, although as seen with Ronaldo even that will not necessarliy put the rumours to rest.

Just read that Chelsea were in for Berba in the read only ITK.

I can say for certain that this is not true, I have a very reliable source at Chelsea, and stats that although he loves him as a player, they are not going for him (at this present moment in time).

AC Milan end interest in Adebayor

they don't want to pay £35m for him, that's good, for sure they will renew their interest in Berbatov again .. while Berbatov wants to move, I hope he will go there if he does for £25m .. with option paying 20% from next deal if they sold him to an English club within 2 years :)

Yeah but the thing is that he (or rather his agent) has stated that he must go to get CL football. If he moves to AC Milan then that will clearly show his rue colours as, last I heard, we will be playing AC Milan in the UEFA Cup final :)

Milan are no longer looking at Berbatov. They are more interested in either Eto'o or Ronaldinho now.

interesting news today that huterlaar is refusing ajax new deal and they will listen to offers. if we lose berbatov i think heavy investment in hunterlaar would be well advised, i know some people call him slow, weak, wooden etc but those people are quite wrong to tell you the truth.

That was an interesting montage, showing his career from early on like that.

He seems to have more skill than I gave him credit for, and actually looks like he wouldn't be a bad alternative to Berbatov from what those clips show, either for us or Man Ure depending on what happens (I'd rather keep Berbatov as we know what he can do in the PL).

Imagine a clip of Keane, Defoe (yes, I know he's no longer ours) or Bent let loose against the likes of Excelsior or Heracles.

Now think of all the prolific Championship strikers who've totally bombed in the Premiership.

Finally, try to remember any Eredivisie striker, other than RvN and, for half a season, Mido (with judgement reserved on van Pervie, and JFH doesn't count), who's carried his scoring form into the EPL.

Suddenly, Huntelaar no longer looks so special.

He'd probably do OK, but for what Ajax will be asking OK isn't enough. I'd far sooner stick with Bent.

And why has he never been linked with anyone major?

Levy has set Berba's value at £30m. Iif Man U put in a £23m bid, as reported, and we turn it down, will that annoy Berba, who possibly sees that as a fair price for him, and consequently put in a transfer request?

Catalanian Sport says today Barca have to pay over the odds for Adebayor as the second option Dimitar Berbatov seems to be Milan bound. Bollocks imo.

Marca wrote yesterday an extensive article about Berbatov. It says Danchev spoke to Levy and explained him Berbatov wants to leave, Levy determined a starting price of 35m euros. Man U want Berbatov, Real too, and Real wouldn't bid for Berbatov if Man U agree to negotiate about Ronaldo.

http://www.marca.com/edicion/marca/futbol/1a_division/real_madrid/es/desarrollo/1141376.html

The journo's from Marca are very naive if they think Ferguson would agree to let Ronaldo go to Real in order to get Berbatov.

AS wrote a similar article, too

http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/f...stiano-marcha/dasftb/20080702dasdaiftb_46/Tes

All this means that Ferguson would move for Berbatov only when Ronaldo's future is sorted out. Otherwise, he would fuel the speculations, especially in Spain, that he is ready to give up on Ronaldo and let him go to Real.

BERBA'S IN TRAINING

By John Cross 3/07/2008

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/sportpix

Dimitar Berbatov faces the humiliating prospect of pre-season training with Tottenham today.

The striker, 27, ended the season determined to leave, with Manchester United, AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid all interested.

But the Bulgarian, 27, returns to the club's training ground in Chigwell, Essex, with Spurs not having received a single firm offer.

Tottenham's £25million asking price has scared off the Europeans, while they are demanding a staggering £10m on top to sell to a Premier League rival.

Spurs are also standing firm over Robbie Keane.
Liverpool are offering £5m and Peter Crouch, and while Tottenham fancy the England striker they want at least £10m plus Crouch.

--------------------------------

 Genius bit of reporting that. Why would Berba be humiliated at training?
