All Spurs fans should boycott the daily mail and Mirror, they write utter crap with No quotes or facts better still all e mail the editors to complain

Their editors probably put them up to it!

I was listening to Lou Macari on MAN U TV and he doubts Berba will leave Spurs for Man U.
He believes that Sir Alex will go for a young prolific striker, one that he can groom and tune up, the likes of Benzema and ONE THAT THEY CAN GET MONEY BACK!
Berba is 27 and 30million quid is too much according to Lou and not the sort of investment that will bring a return to Man U. Unless Spurs accept player plus cash basis for Berba which he doubts very much!

Any thoughts..

Thats also what i've suggested. So much so that for £30m they could probably go for someone like Aguero (although he'd probably cost more then that even.) The fact is, Berbatov is not worth £30m, although he is worth that much to us. Thats why i think its win win for us. We either keep one of the best strikers in Europe, or we get paid a lot of money and can sign 2 or 3 top quality players with it.

Berba is the best striker in the world

Berbatov is the best striker on the planet

Do people actually want Berba to stay if he really doesn't want to be here?? Surely he would just have a negative impact on the rest of the team and his performances would probably dip (look at Henry in his last Arsenal season).

If he wants out then maybe we should sell him.

Moot point. Berba wants to stay, Spurs want him to stay, Fans want him to stay,... HE stays!!

Go ahead and Lock it, he's staying. No need for this thread. Move along, nothing to see here. These aren't the 'droids you're looking for...

He's a professional, he's never said he doesn't want to play for Spurs, he just said he wants CL football, if no-one bids (or no bids are acceptable) there is nothing for him to gain by playing negatively - if we fail in our aspirations next season he will want away for sure and a good show from him next season can only benefit him (and of course us).

as said earlier, we are in a win win situation whatever happens

what has berbatov actually said? The only thing I can remember is that statement last season saying that he was fed up with the speculation and that his happy at the club.

naaa its not win win, losing berbatov is always going to be a bad thing because losing any player that the fans idolise is painful and will upset the millions who love the club. losing keane (which is beginning to seem semi realistic) or king or even woody would be unbearable as well, while even robinson and dawson, despite their respective regressions, will hurt when they inevitable depart.

At the end of the day football is about heroes, spurs more than most, so losing them is never good, because no matter who you bring in, it is no guarantee that they will become a hero

I know he hasn't said it publicly but we don't really know what's going on behind the scenes. He hasn't come out and said he's staying either. My concern of keeping an unhappy player is that it could lead to little things like him bad mouthing the manager or staff to 1 or 2 players, adding to discontent etc etc especially if a few results don't go our way at the start of the season. We don't need that, we need everyone pulling in the same direction this season. And as good as he is, if he is not willing to fight for the cause then :adios:

I retract my last statement.

Berbatov is the best striker in the Universe.

According to new cosmological theories, there are many (parallel) universes. Therefore, it's better to say Berba is the best striker in all possible universes

The Gutierrez 'Webster' deal has changed everything. Berbatov will be able to buy himself out of his contract at the end of the season. I expect Levy to cash in now - probably for a far lower fee than would have been expected before the start of the week.

We have the option (i think) to take up a 2 year contractural extention on Barbies Contract, so that doesnt force Levys hand at all this or the Xmas Transfer window really.

The extension doesn't count as a new contract. There are no contractual obstacles for a player to buy out his contract after 3 years, if he hasn't signed a new contract. The option to extend the contract is a part of the old contract and triggering it doesn't amount to making/signing a new contract. What Levy can rely on is the unofficial agreement between the biggest clubs to not sign players on Webster. I'm not sure, however, that if Real could sign Ronaldo on that rule, they wouldn't do it. The situation is more complicated than it might appear initially.
