I was there today, the booing was out of order but I have to say (as many already have), Royal and Sanchez are just not good enough and even Dier, Lenglet etc. just aren’t good enough defenders if we want to win things at the top level. I hope Jan / next summer sees some upgrades in the back 3 or 4.
Bentancur & Deki brilliant again today…

Aurier would have been a load better as a wing back. Funny how we always seem to get that position completely out of synch with what we need.
Yea I remember Aurier putting in a few worldie deliveries at RWB under Poch but he didn’t get a run out there very often.

Felt really bad for Emerson today, says alot considering we won 4-3 after being behind 3 times and that's my feelings at full time.

Shocking behaviour from some of "fans"

I'm not sure if anyone else watching noticed but we were defending a corner and the camera panned to behind the goal on Emerson and you could hear clear as day a fan shouting something along the lines of "you're fucking shit, you're fucking useless, you're fucking shit" etc. Wasn't even a split second and the camera didn't even pan away it went on for a good 10 seconds.

Really seemed to be directed at Royal but I'm hoping it was directed at the Leeds player going to take the corner.

That was at the Leeds corner taker, same bloke is there most weeks and always runs down. Likes to give the opponents corner takers dogs abuse (and tells them they’ve got tiny feet and his mum wants her boots back )

Don't know why this got a disagree as I thought his passing was good and he was aggressive.
He did everything that Conte needs from that role (apart from Rodygos goal) so it was a very good change from Conte.

Still needs replacing and shows us what kind of player we need

I think Lenglet is very good but I do worry he gets caught out at times and he's not the strongest.

I think we need to find a quick, physical CB who can be aggresive and carry the ball as well as a leader type.

If we don't win this game then I just don't know. Questions will have to be asked of Conte. I'm not saying it'll be easy but this run of poor form and performances this season, in general, have been really, really concerning. I don't care how bad he thinks the squad is, he's suppose to be one of the best coaches in world football. If he can't get tune out of them then hard questions need to be asked. How much investment is he going to need exactly before we start to see some bang for our buck? The more quality he needs bought in the less impressed I am at the claims that he's some brilliant coach. If you can't work with anything but the best then maybe you're not so good. The best coaches worked with what they had and improved them. I'll say it again, Clough was a world class coach. Fergie was a world class coach. Wenger, as much as it pains me to say it, was a world class coach. They worked with all types of players. The Ronaldos' and Henrys' of this world as well as the John O'sheas', Tom Cleverleys' and the Phillippe Senderos'.
That's true, they did.

But they didnt have 5 or 6 John O'Sheas' or whoever.

Conte currently has a large number of them.

Only Kulusevski, Kane, Son, Bentancur, Hojbjerg and Romero have shown they are top class at what they do.

Bissouma, Richarlison are adapting.

Perisic is getting assists but strugglig with the pace at times.

Then you have a drop off and its a mix of steady eddies and players who make a lot of mistakes.

what a great win.
  • there is something about this teams never say die attitude.
  • glad to see the Dier Lcb was put to rest. hopefully permanently
  • we need some speed in defense
  • midfield is one great player short of where it needs to be
  • our offense is outstanding when our passing accuracy is good and we don't dilly dally on the ball.
  • Hugo is far from ready to retire
  • Kulu's disguise is a good a anyone since Dembele
  • Rodrigo Rolls Royce . a few errant passes to be fair but he is a game changer.
  • we aren't that far away because upgrading the CB and wb positions will have a major knock on effect.
We're such a weird team, but at least we're not dull. Bentancur rescued us today but had an off day in terms of loose passing and turning over possession. He does a great job of driving us on though, especially when Bissouma gives him the license.

Kulusevski is a class player with a great touch. We need him fit. Richarlison hasn't gotten going at all yet, in comparison. I was looking forward to him in the left attacking role but he just hasn't clicked yet at Spurs.

And I think a centre back that positions us 10 yards further upfield will make a world of difference for us. We're too worried about being attacked in behind and the deep lying stuff isn't working. That CB and a better selection or signing for RWB will keep us in the hunt for top 4.

I can’t emphasise enough how much I hated the abuse towards Emerson - it’s stinks of entitlement. I remember a few years ago Arsenal fans booing one of their own players and I thought it was pathetic, but I always assumed us Spurs fans were above that sort of thing but clearly we are not. I felt genuinely awful for the guy, whatever you think of his ability (and don’t get me wrong, he is sorely lacking) he doesn’t deserve the public humiliation and indignation of being booed by your own fans

Home from the game and what to say? I said before and still think moving Dier to the right to accommodate Lenglet as the central defender was a mistake, said at half time needed to move him back and bring on Sanchez at RCB. So pleased to see that Conte saw it and acted accordingly along with Doherty for different reasons.
That settled our defence but they passed through the midfield and we were chasing shadows so the Bisouma substitution was just the job to close that down and from then on we really took it to them.
What a game what a result and what a day.

I hate this entitlement tag that keeps getting thrown about. Expecting better isn’t entitlement. That first half want good enough but you can’t argue with the bollocks they showed to turn it around. I think everyone’s just glad for the World Cup break now.

Anyways, and this is coming from someone who had been exceedingly critical of our performances and direction this season, if you booed the team at half time today or jeered and/or booed Royal (one of our players who works hard but yes, has obvious limitations)...

well..

you’re an absolute dick.

It's so fucking cringe.

But it's pack mentality now. Horrible and embarrassing to see.

I think it's more a case of the fans overall frustration at the whole teams performance - and because wingbacks play such a massive part in a Conte system, Emerson finds himself with the ball a lot and that puts more emphasis on him.

I do agree though that the stick he gets, isn't right - but I too have been guilty of singling him out ?

One thing is for sure, Conte see's something in him that we fans clearly don't because he continues to get picked!
