THIS IS THE BEST THREAD EVER MADE ON SC!

I have voted JJ player of the season twice in a row because his attitude, commitmnet, fitness, workrate and team play has been essential to our continual qualification for the Uefa Cup. He is a very talented central-midfielder who has been let down but crap midfield partners, mentioning no names... Zokora.

Anyone who thinks jenas is not good enough for our 1st team should be removed from any association with Tottenham Hotspur.

Joking aside he is a quality player and can not understand the abuse he gets sometimes. i remember a year ago that jenas was blamed for everything that went wrong. They can now eat their words because he is our vice-captain!

This is part of the problem, he is consistently good but very rarely great. Whilst I by no means hate JJ I do not think he would be a regular starter in any of the top 4 teams. Fabregas, Gerrard, Scholes and even (god I can't believe I'm saying this) Lampard can be great and are great more than once or twice a season. When was the last time you walked away from one of our games saying god jenas was great he controlled the game and dominated the midfield.

Hi Stu - basically I agree with you - (and not just cos you're big :)

that's why I never get this inconsistent stuff - as I keep saying he's one of our more consistent players

he is precisely not a great player and probably never will be

ditto Steed TT Lennon Hudd to give some current/recent examples

Lennon & Hudd of course have time yet - but it's likely they'll never make that step to be compared with the Cliff Jones Ginolas and Hoddles of our history

so don't expect greatness, just expect a good prem player which JJ is

and he probably isn't good enough to start for a big 4 team regularly

however he's given us three good years

and note the three years we've had with JJ have been a lot better than the three years before him

Despite the fact that he didnt rep me when he said he would I agree with DC on this.

A top performer for us, even when he is not heavily involved he is putting in the graft.

Top top player.

Hi Poolesy - hope you have the rep by now

looks like your green block count has gone up - :)

There's quite a few debates on here i'll leave now as i've calmed down a bit :)

However, on a general basis I want to say - do not judge JJ on what you think he should be - judge him on what he is

he isn't Gerrard and I'm sure has never claimed to be so

Aaron lennon ain't cliff jones and hudd ain't Hoddle - so we we should start picking on them? - of course not - judge them for what they are too

JJ was brought in as a mid - the fanciful roles some people assign to him are products of their imaginations -

he is a mid player who has played as a mid player for three years when he has been a regular starter and a key part of our marked improvement over the three years previous to when he joined

jol played JJ in various positions/roles as has JR - JJ does the job assigned to him by the coaches not by fans with wish lists

he may not do the job as well as some would like - indeed at times as well as the coaches would like

but he does a job and does it well enough to be continually picked

OH AND HE'S NOT INCONSISTENT - HE'S ONE OF OUR MOST CONSISTENT PLAYERS OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS :)

and note Toon have slid back a bit since JJ left him - despite all the cackling 'good riddance to him' toon fans

what's more JJ would now fetch £10m+ in the transfer market

so laugh away Toon boys - cos you *******d up once more

In the words of the Penguin....'we're gonna turn him into an H-bomb on wheels'.

Or something likes that. What other players can we hijack?

There must be a reason he has been given the captains armband over Woody too. Ramos obviously likes his leadership skills.

jenas jenas give us a wave - would do it

at long last he might feel at home - having given us 3 good years - despite all the verbal abuse some of the Lane numpties have given him during that time

I know ytd :) it's partly why I go off on one on here - a lot of it is frustration about what's gone on down the Lane

actually if you want to check the start of this thread I was getting a bit excited about what might happen at the Roma game :)

Well nice to report it was all very positive where I was in the Park Lane- except - there had to be an except- the guy next to me deffo wanted to have a pop at JJ - he kinda started - leading me to praise JJ very vigorously and give him a couple of withering looks -

eventually he either understood JJ was playing well as usual - or he thought I ain't getting involved with that nutter :)
