Adebayor is a lazy, lanky streak of piss. He might be scoring a bit at the start but he'll quickly start pissing City fans off with his laziness. Anyone who says they'd prefer him over Defoe is fuckin mental. Tevez works harder than Keane but he scores less so dunno about that one. I guess Tevez but hardly a big difference.

Barry is good but slowing down big time, I'd have Palacios over him. Ireland is brilliant and he would be worth having over Hudd. Lennon is better than SWP....FACT. Modric and Robinho are pretty close in fairness and I'd say it's down to personal preference altho most would take Robinho I guess.

Defensively Richards isn't the same player so Charlie wins. Ekotto shits on Wayne Bridge. CB's is very close, if we ignore King's knees and go based on talent then I'd say him along with probably Toure or Lescott before Woody but only cos they are both quicker than him.

Given is better than Gomes but not by much.

I think it's fuckin close and honestly there aren't many of their players I'd want.

Interesting responses. I think both teams have very similar first 11s, but we (IMO) have the stronger bench with Pav, Crouch, Bentley, Jenas, Dawson, Bassong, Hutton, Bale, Cudicini, etc ..

Me personally would prefer Defoe to Adebayor. Only players i would want would be Ireland for Hudd and maybe, just maybe, Robinho for Lennon...

It will really be interesting where each of us are come December..

very interesting alot of good opinions towards city.

I look at it like this.

Our centre backs are superior. Woodgate and king are better than lescott and toure.
Lennon is better than swp and palacios is better than barry.
Modric is a better all rounder than robinho.
Adebayor poses a better threat than crouch, but less invention compared to keane.
Defoe is better than santa cruz, and scores more than tevez.
Ireland is a good goalscoring midfeilder, more mobile than huddlestone but huddles has superior distribution.

We are better all round end of, Given is the best keeper though.

To be perfectly honest Tevez is massively over rated, Robinho can't play away from home, Toure isn't half as good as people make out, Bridge hasn't progressed since his time at Southampton... Adding that to the fact we have a better team spirit.. I'd say we are the superior side tbh...

My personal opinion is City aren't going to do half aswell as everyone Believes and will in all likelihood finish below the Sky4, us and Everton....

Trying to take of my spurs specs :-

Given

Corluka King Toure BAE

Ireland Palacios

Lennon Tevez Robinho

Adebayor

Modric / Robinho is a tough one. Modric has the potential and talent to become far better then robinho, but at the moment, you would probably have to give it to Robinho.

Their players fill up most of the attacking options, whilst ours fill up the defensive.

We have the better defence, they have the better attack.

Should make for a very interesting game both home and away.

I just can't help thinking ManCity = 6 points.
They're better at screwing it up than we are.

TBH I think its pointless comparing squads on paper.

1. A lot of stars = a lot of egos. 1 Berbatov can disrupt the rest of the team.
2. Its not the players, its the team. Think back to when Ramos used to play Modric deep. He was nowhere the player he is now. Sometimes players just don't gel.
3. Attitude - tiny clubs can beat much bigger clubs using the right attitude.

And half a dozen more factors.

There's much more to it than just names on sheets.

Adebayor is a lazy, lanky streak of piss.

Adebayour is all about the money. If he is getting what he wants then he is a world class player. "if i wasnt a footballer I would have been a gangster" is what he said in yesterdays NotW

The longer Robinho is at citeh the better. He is a complete ****, him being in the team is bad for morale, yeah he is a wonderful player but he never tracks back and thinks he is above everyone.

They probably edge it in terms of individual players, but as a team we're miles better than them, and I can't see them having anywhere near as much of a team unit as we have until they get a better manager in.

name a first eleven of ours and theirs. then see who would make a combined team. we have the better players mostly

Redknapp > Hughes IMO, and that is a big factor. Also, our squad continuity is a big plus.

City have spent a lot of money on good players, but are any of them great players? Only Tevez really gets close, but even then he isn't particularly prolific for a striker. The Goons were more than happy to get rid of Toure and Adebayor, Robinho runs hot and cold, De Jong is OK, Bridge is OK. Barry, Lescott and Given are good PL players, but short of being world class. I quite like the look of Ireland but he is no world beater either.

All in all, they have obviously improved, but they have only got to around our standard as things stand. They could of course lash out a further £100m in the next week, but they will still need to upgrade Hughes.

fIf things are not looking good in January they will simply splash out another £50mil

Agree

The problem that Citeh create is the ability to hobble opponents by turning the heads of their key players. Just look at Villa without Barry and Everton without Lescott. Villa lost 0-2 at home to Wigan ffs. These are 6 point signings against Citeh's natural opponents. They also have a knock on effect, eg. with Everton sniffing around Hutton and Villa around JJ.

Liverpool will struggle without Alonso and Benitez has no money to strengthen. Citeh will spend in January and that will be enough to see them bludgeon their way into the Sky4. If us and Citeh are neck-and-neck in January watch the bids come in for one of Luka/Charlie/Woodie/BAE

When the going gets tough Robinho, Adebayor and possibly SWP won't get stuck in, where as all of our lads are up for the fight

But in terms of ability, I'd say that Man City edge it

One thing to consider though - I don't think we've ever seen the full potential of a Spurs team for years now. This may give us an inferiority complex about our players being worse than they actually are.

Triying to be as immpartial as possible:

GK: Given
RB: Corluka
LB: Assou-Ekotto
CB: Woodgate
CB: King
CM: Palacios
CM: Barry
RM: Lennon
LM: Robinho
AT: Tevez
AT: Adebayor

6 v 5 to us IMO, but it is all a matter of opinion I guess.

Modric could play that Tevez role pretty well too.

But their team is slightly stronger on paper i think, mainly because of Adebayor and Robinho.

Individually Citeh have the more talented team. Robinho's world class for a start and any fool doubting that is a fool-and when the going got tough Robinho chipped in with a good goals return ( much better than Tevez-IMO) Adebaybor has been treated as a second class person. The song about his parents is racist and derogatory-noticed the scum are now signing the song...probabley jealous because he looks happy and scoring goals for Citeh.

They have more 'fantasy' players than us. Adebayor, Robinho, Tevez, etc are all the kind of players who everyone values at huge amounts but who are often inconsistent due to their very nature.

I'd say their team is worth more money and on its day will destroy teams more comprehensively. Ours will work harder and be more consistent week to week, and play nicer football!

I'd still kill to have Ireland though. He's a real gem. If we could get Huddlestone to be our Lampard/Ireland (why buy when you've got them), we'll be laughing. That's the key for me this year. If Hudd fulfills, we're going to be awesome. Without, we'll be decent but fall short later in the year. Still think we'll be above City though.

Kind of ironic that the consensus is that they have better players, but we have a gelled squad and very good team spirit - I bet that's what a lot of teams used to say about us, but we seem to be turning the corner under HR.
