Why would they charge him if they aren't going to punish?
If the FA read the ref's report there was clearly enough in it to charge him with an offence. A precedent was set with the Costa punishment earlier in the season, so the FA have to be seen to follow it.

They can still appeal. With Roy's recent comments it wouldn't surprise me if the FA bottled it.

Roy Hodgson is such a prick...I bet he's never upset anyone...ever.

I've watched the clip several times and every time, from various angles Vardy has thrown his legs into Ogbonna and then dived, attempting to cheat the ref into awarding a penalty. It's blatant. What the fuck is Woy looking at???

Really is great to see the England manager supporting someone swearing at the ref and jabbing his finger in his face.

A great lesson for all young footballers. Well done Roy.

He'll get the extra ban. The fa can't back out now.
I believe you are right. Ever since it happened, people have been wanting to believe that the FA would have a bag of ulterior motives and let it go in the end. Almost like they want to believe in the conspiracy more than anything else.

Indeed the FA have set precedent with Costa already this season. Can't see how they can do anything else tbh.

I don't find it surprising that Hodgson has got involved with the whole thing, he won't be the first or last manager to defend one of his players. How many times we have witnessed Ferguson, or Wenger, or Mourinho doing the same, regardless of their players behavior? Roy's got a major tournament coming up and Vardy could be a key player - he wants to get him on side as much as possible. I do wonder though what his view of the 'dive' would be if a penalty were given against England in the Euros for a similarly 'unbalanced' fall - would he still be of the same opinion if, say, Martial had gone to ground like Vardy and won France a penalty which put England out? I'm pretty sure I know the answer.

Regardless, as the F.A. have already set the precedent with Costa, surely the extra game ban has to apply in spite of what Hodgson may or may not think about Vardy's reaction. Would the F.A. want to be seen as so partisan to treat Vardy preferentially at the cost of consistency?

If you look at the two other cases this season of improper conduct charges, I think it's pretty clear Vardy will get an extra game.

Diego Costa fronted up to the ref after he got 2 yellows pretty much exactly like Vardy did - although Costa didn't walk off & come back again for more verbals as Vardy did. And Gabriel was charged not so much for abusing the ref as for taking so much time to leave the field.

Vardy's case is pretty much identical in severity to both. It'll be 2 games and no appeal from Lester.

Here's a different view of the incident against West Ham. It looks much clearer in this.

Roy Hodgson is a fucking joke.

I would like to see Gary Neville take over tby, i know he did shit in Spain, but that's Spain. I reckon Neville could get this young England team with a Spurs core really shifting.

Tell you what I think about the Vardy incident vs. West Ham.
"Good liftoff, great rotation, nice forward somersault with pike, but the landing didn't stick in my eyes. So not his best dive but should see some 9s across the board."

I normally agree with you GS so I'm interested to know what it is about Neville that you think would work?

Personally I see him as more of an AVB type of person where it's clear that he knows what he's talking about but it looks like he would struggle to motivate players and get his ideas across. Even as a player I would have pitched him as a quiet thinker rather than a leader and I've yet to see anything different from him off the pitch or in his analysis.

Nope he wouldn't. You are better off with Roy - as much as I disagree with his pathetic defense of Vardy. I think England will do very well in the Euro's.

Exactly. Incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional from an England Manager.

Well, you kinda got me tbh. It was kind of a passing thought - but was really based on the fact that he's played under Fergie & with the 'class of 92', won many honors so he knows what it is to win, he's English, I think that he's pro-youth (he manages the England youth setup doesn't he?) & he's of the new management generation.

I guess I was focusing on the fact that he ticks alot of boxes & didn't give that much thought to his personality or the negatives - & I think you're right in what you say
