We're actually in a pretty good position with approx 16 players you could make a case for being in the team: either as established first teamers or 'in form' reserves.

With Moscow in mind:

Hugo

Walker
Toby
Jan
Davies

Wanyama
Winks

Lamela
Eriksen
Son

I don't understand why virtually no one has both Lamela and Eriksen in their preferred team for this weekend. These guys are now the two best attacking players at the club with Kane injured. Since the beginning of last season, they've combined for something like 30 assists in all competitions. We won't be beating the likes of City or qualifying for the final 16 of the CL without them starting matches. Lamela hasn't started the last two PL matches. He is arguably the most fit player in the squad. He should 100% be starting against Middlesborough, which will not be an easy game, as they will be compact and look to frustrate us. In fact, I'd say Eriksen and Lamela should start all three games we have coming up before the break.

Anyhow, my XI, with an eye to resting both Dembele/Dier to save them from further injury pre-City:

Lloris

Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies

Sissoko Wanyama

Lamela Eriksen Son

Janssen

Because they both played last night and we have a massively important CL on Tuesday.

Now we finally have a deep squad and no EL we have to rotate.

I'd be surprised if either Lamela or Eriksen start and if they both do then I will seriously question Poch's judgment and ability to handle using the squad to compete on several fronts.

Lloris
Trippier, Toby, Verts, Davies
Wanyama, Winks
Sissoko, Eriksen, Son
Janssen

Subs: Vorm, CCV, Dier, Alli, Lamela, Edwards, Nkoudou

Resting Walker as he had a tight hamstring during Sunderland match and we have 2 big games next week.

Lamela has been involved every game this season, rest him for next week.

Keep Rose and Dembele for next week

Are people putting Eriksen back in because he played well against Gillingham?
Scored two goals; got the juices flowing. No reason to 'cock-block' him now he's got the 'orn.

Came off early and should still be fresh and eager to go.

For a team that has to rotate it's a no-brainer tbf.

My main concerns being that we need to try and keep a good number of players fresh for Moscow is the reasoning behind a lot of my choices but here it goes

Lloris
Walker Alder Vert Davies
Wanyama Winks
Sissoko Dele Son
Janssen

I'd then bring in Rose, Dier Dembele, Lamela, Eriksen for Moscow

I think WImmer would be good against Boro then again I think we will play with three CBs. ill through a spanner in the works here.

Cant expect Walker to start 3 games in 1 week twice during this stretch 7 game stretch and then he probably will start both games for England. I'd stick with Trippier and Davies this match as we need Walker and Rose for CSKA and City.

Yeah im just concerned with going too far on the rotation to be honest but trippier looked pretty decent yesterday

Boro use 1 up top and play a 4231. Poch will not play a 352, 343, 3331, 361 or any variation of a 3 CB setup here. He may do it against a team that play with 2 up top like he did last season vs Watford but he wont here.

You're not wrong to be concerned with too much rotation, but we have a long season to think about and there are 2 hugely important games coming up next week then the lads go off and play 2 World Cup qualifiers. Best to rotate early on when we can.

Dont forget about November where we also have CL matches, 3 London derbies and there's another international break with 2 more World Cup qualifiers. Rotate against the lesser teams where we should still beat them and keep the first team players fresh. It will pay dividends in the run in.

I was thinking that Boro are more set piece orientated and are a danger with their aerial threat.

In all honesty id be happy with a 055 formation

Any line up that has Winks and Wanyama starting is going to get a like from me - Poch won't start Winks though, no chance.

I don't think there's a "team for Boro", so much as there's a series of teams for the sequence of Gillingham-Boro-CSKA-City, all interlinked and interdependent. A full squad press across the four games.

Except for Janssen that is. Him we're flogging like a rented mule.

Agree, in addition Eriksen did not play against Sunderland, that is why I picked him.
