As much as we wanted it to be about this season, it is time to be resigned to the fact that it is really is all about next season. It is encouraging to see what he has done with our team. We are only a few players away as long as those players are mentally strong and can act as leaders especially in the midfield.

We're getting there. Disappointing to lose, obvs. But I can see us coming together. This year, certainly once Conte took over in reality, was always going to be a massive 'pre-season' for next year. We have some quality new additions that have strengthened us. I think he'll be backed in the summer. Next year IMO, we'll be much much better.

Given Ndombele and Lo Celso are playing week in week out elsewhere we shouldn’t have any issues in shifting them.

Gil most likely needs another loan or cut our losses with him as I just don’t see where he fits into a Conte set up.

In terms of incomings there needs to be both lots of them and they need to be in early otherwise we’ll be once again playing catch up all season.

If you go by xG this was a 1-1 or 2-1 win for us. I know it means nothing really but we deserved more, for sure.

Never fail to disappoint. Especially when it matters.
Hey we have been here so many times, at least we have toughened up to it.
If we can get results at Brighton and then home to West Ham, it will soften the blow.

We were the better team. What game were people watching? Ronaldo one of, if not THE, greatest player of all time just had one of those games. First strike worldie which even for him goes in 1/10. Second was bad defending I’ll give you that. No need to play offside. Third man possessed on a corner. Son missed a really good chance and we had lots of nearly moments near the box. On most days we win that 2-1 I’m sure. It’s frustrating it happened to one of our man rivals but I don’t mind losing like that.

He was, Utd schooled him in the first half. Funnily enough the pundits and press also agree he was poor
He wasn't great today but he still showed talent You could also say the same of Kane. He"s a good player, let's not rhrow him under the bus for that. The new messiah Docherty was awful today too. ?

I think it was a game that really highlighted weak areas in the team to be honest. I'm not sure I would say we were great just for the reason that as much as we controlled the game we looked very vulnerable too. For how much 'better' we were the likelihood of a shit United side scoring shouldn't have been the same or more than us doing so in which I think it ultimately was. It was strange to see us be in such control but have that bit of a fragility about us at the same time too.

What I will say is that I think we were really well set out and to me at least it looked like the plan was there for us to reap the rewards from but the players to execute it aren't at the sufficient level. Something we already know really.

Dier should have come out for the first to be fair. Any closing of tge angles may have stopped Ron picking his spot.

Yep, agree its about next season. I said months ago we wouldn't get top 4. Sure it will be nice if we get European football again, but are we going to throw games again with weak line ups, because if so, what's the point.
Just another wasted trophyless year under ENIC beckons.
We need 5 or 6 players in, and at least 4 of them a fortnight before the season starts.
At best we currently have 12 decent/quality players. You can't realistically expect top 6 and a trophy from that.

Yeh, we weren't great but defo created more promising scenarios and xG reflects this. They basically scored 3 goals from nothing and didn't sustain pressure once tbh.

Bossed it
but lost it.
Ronaldo rampant.
Almost a privilege
to lose to the all-time top scorer.
A tiny part of me is relieved
that the suffering and hope
are all over
for another season
Relax now and look forward.
This was the one
Couldn't score a goal in open play
if we played all night.

Meh, it's difficult to judge as the teams around have all played such a different number of games. United are currently 4th, but we win the 2 games in hand we're on 51. Unfortunately it appears to be completely in Arsenals hands and it is theirs to lose, but every one in the "race" appears to be doing their best to hand it someone else.

I think it's unlikely we'll be the ones that end up there, but it's not quite "gone" yet
I applaud your optimism.

Just gutted that Arsenal are going to get top 4.

Someone tell me it won’t allow them to kick on and create a quality side, I hate the thought of them back to being good again
Not sure why everyone( on here and in the media) are so sure Arse… are a cert for 4th place . Their games in hand are Liverpool(H), Chelsea(A) and us (A). They’ve also got to play WHU away and ManU at home. Their next away is against an inform Villa. If anyone is favorite for 4th I’d probably say ManU as I believe they have the easiest fixtures and despite being gash they’ve only lost twice under Ragnick

We go and beat city twice. That's the important stat
Yes but we could afford to lose those games if we’d win against our nearest rival for the top 4 as they also will most likely lose against City. That’s our problem we don’t win the games that REALLY matter and this is what stops us being a top side. Unfortunately it’s a malaise we’ve had for a long time.
