 Berba does not want to leave the UK and wants to stay in the Premiership - I am sure about that. Man Ure is every kid's football dream as they are growing up because outside of the UK it is the only club they have all heard of but I agree with the above post - no-one in the UK will pay the money for him (except perhaps the Chavs). He will be wearing a yid number 9 come next season - trust me

Sorry but what is the picture supposed to prove? That someone has a picture of Berbatov playing football with a young lad?

Picture proves nothing other than Berba loves to play football - even with the kids on the beach! Just had a picture of it - don't prove a thing

Just took this off a thread that has been closed for some reason but does anyone think Berbatov is not on their list?

New Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola says Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o and Deco are surplus to requirements at CampNou.

Guardiola, who has replaced Frank Rijkaard as Barca boss, admits he is not currently planning on having the star trio in his squad next season

No.9 needed

"We are looking for an out-and-out striker that can score 60 goals a season," he joked. "Well, we want a No.9, we need one to complement Henry and Bojan.

"We want three up there competing and some of the names in the papers have been very good.

"We know clearly who we want to sign and the names of those that will leave, but I am not going to say those names.

I know it doesn't mean that he's going to Barca but they have to be an alternative.
By the way isn't the other guy in the picture wearing a chelsea kit????

I was thinking this myself. A gentlemans agreement doesn't exactly mean anything in football. Gazza joined us after having a similar agreement with Sir Alex to join Man Utd and ended up with Spurs. Just look at Sol Campbell when it comes to such a gentlemans agreement

As for Barca. If they want Berbatov i dont see their current signings causing any problems as they will cash in on Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Deco. Those 3 should raise a few bob. I just cant see them agreeing our high value for him. £40m and going up.

Barça have probably got the cash - I just don't think that they'd value Berbatov at £30m+ - unless Chelsea are involved, players don't go for those sums anymore (correct me if I'm wrong...)
Also, I don't reckon that the Barça board could get away with buying Berba, politically.... after last season the cules are livid and they are going to need to see some Galactico-like signings to calm down (see Dani Alves) and in terms of perception, I don't think Berba's a big enough name (they could get away with signing him from Man Utd, but not from signing him from us - if that makes sense, likewise if Bulgaria had been at the Euros it would have made it more likely)

Just my thoughts....

fully agree

who is the big name that Barca can sign for No. 9? Benzema and Ibrahimovic are non-starters imo.

I don't think Huntelaar is a big name. As regards Trezeguet, he's already 31. To replace Eto'o who is 27 with Trezeguet is hardly a great buisness. Barca would be stupid to do it.

I agree with the 1st part actually. I was just thinking along the lines of whether Barca could afford him was all. I actually think we'll price Berbatov out of a move, because i cant see anybody come up with the money we want for him. I think a bid would have to be above £30m before we consider selling to be honest. I cant see anybody spend that on him, because as good as Berbatov is, he's not really worth that much (only to us.) If any of the top clubs spend that sort of money, it will be on someone much younger. Hell, Aguero could be bought for that sort of money.

I wouldn't agree with the other part though. The reason Barca are selling Eto'o, Deco and Ronaldinho is because they dont want all these galacticos anymore. They are considered a disruptive influence in the dressing room. Its the same thing Real Madrid done after several seasons without a trophey. They cleared out the Galacticos, and signed many young players like Pepe and Gago. They then went on to win La Liga twice, so Barca are looking to do likewise. I expect David Villa to be the number one target for Barcelona and Real Madrid after the Euros. If Ronaldo goes to Madrid though, i doubt they'll have the money for Villa. So i'd have it a guess that Ronaldo will join Madrid, Villa will join Barcelona and Eto'o will join Man Utd along with Robinho. Just my crazy pediction for what its worth.

If, and its a big if, someone stumps up the money for Berbatov, then at least we'll get a huge transfer kitty in exchange. Its win win really.

Barca look for a No 9 and Villa isn't a centre forward to my knowledge. He is similar to Bojan and cannot partner Henry well. Barca want Benzema, Adebayor or Zlatan. I think no one of them would be easy to get.

As regards Eto'o to Man U: he isn't tall and strong enough to provide more options up front, given that they have already Rooney and Tevez. Besides, Eto'o was pants against Man U. In an ideal world Man U would sign Benzema imo, but probably they will fail this summer.
