Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov never goes to nightclubs and says he prefers to stay at home and feed squirrels from his balcony. (News of the World)

that made me chuckle when i read it on the bbc website

feeding squirrels was a surprising end to that sentence!!

 I'm sure that was the answer to a question in an interview last summer when he was in BG - must be a really slow news weekend if they have to fill gaps with that :duh:

The part in that SO article that jumped out at me was keane being there. Has he not been widely reported to be in the UK talking to Liverpool and having a medical??

I wouldn't go quite that far. However, his willingness to put in an effort in a Mickey Mouse friendly does suggest your assertion that he'll sulk and twat about if forced to stay is somewhat wide of the mark.

Well, why do you take that report as a true interpretation of his display? There were reports that he was more disinterested than usual. And the Marca correspondent summed-up his performance in one word: apathy.

Further, what you say makes sense only under the presumption that it's stil unclear where he is going to play and that he has to show with his behaviour on the pitch what he wants. I don't believe the latter at all. Be sure that he has informed Levy about his wish to leave long ago.

I think that Joey55 may be closer to the truth when he says that agreement about Berbatov's and Keane's fees might have been achieved before the "statement".

One thing is certain for me: as long as Berbatov and the twat of an agent keep silence, they are confident that the transfer would go through. Their silence is far from being a positive sign. And opinions that Levy somehow forced them to remain silent strike me as very naive.

A journalist showing Berbatov's attitude in a negative light? HOLD THE FRONT PAGE.

It seems to me that, since Berbatov returned to London a week back, he returned back to Spain with a much better attitude.

Maybe cos he picked up his favourite boots and his feet didn't hurt so much.

Seriously though if Danchev is the UK I wouldn't be sure it is to discuss his move to Man U. They haven't met our fee and are seemingly unlikely to either (at least the quoted fee). At this stage he seems more likely to stay than Keane, simply because his value is so high and harder for us to replace.

The Daily Star (yeah I know) seems to think Ferguson has given up on Berba and wants Henry now instead.

At least the attention is off Berba all of a sudden.

Smokescreen.

Berbatov won't fancy playing alongside Bent (Bent and Berbatov is no 50 goals per season pairing), and won't fancy a transition year at Spurs when he could be almost guaranteed a League title at Man United and a good chance of winning the Champions League. Ramos will remember Berbatov's sulky nonscoring start to last season.

Ferguson will have his man.

He knows Berbatov is proven in the Premier League and will fit straight into his side so it doesn't matter to him if it goes to the last minute.

I've said all along that I struggle to see United paying the fee and this position hasn't changed.

How do you know Berba won't be happy with another season at Tottenham? I'm sure if we didn't sell him, he'd continue to play as well as he can for us.

I'm not convinced Berba would fit into Man Utd's team at all. Certainly not straight away.

Also, if they buy Tevez for £32m, are they gonna spend the same, if not more, on Berba as well?

Apparently Tevez's transfer fee has already been budgeted for, and won't affect Fergie's "Warchest" this summer...

Can't remember the source tho... think it might've been the United CEO (Gill?) in the Observer...

I really don't think Berba will go now.

United are going to permanently sign Tevez for around £30m so surely won't want to spend so much on another striker. Plus he's appearing in pictures on the official site. Ramos won't want him leaving so close to the season either. Let's just hope Keano stays too.

I would be happy with a Berby Villa front 2 with Santos providing support.... on the other hand... I really must wake up!

Even if that is the case, are they really likely to want to spend another £30m odd on another striker, which would mean they'd have three strikers worth around £30m each. And if they did, how could they keep three £30m strikers happy?

Maybe its just me, but I have this gut feeling that those who say Berbs will still be at the club come the end of the window could well be true.

Just to speculate but it could well be that the sulk act has actually put other Europe based suitors off.
