The thing that makes me most nervous is Levy.i bet he is taking the Valencia Chairman's stance as a dorect challenge to his manhood. Shake it off, We will get this done. Chris Akabusi - PMA positive mental attitude. COYS.

I figure since people on the banner end up going to other teams then maybe we should put Parker,Hudd,Gomes etc on the banner??

Well, BAE is holding strong up there with like 0 links to anyone. I think we should go with my idea of just putting 5 Gary Hoopers up there.

Benteke stayed, halilovic stayed, leandro stayed that would mean Parker, Hudd and gomes stay. Are you sure you've thought this through?

Well I've FINALLY finished the chapter I've been working on without stop for the last few days, and I do believe I've nailed it. The only thing that would lift my mood any higher would be some positive news on Soldado....

That'll have to do.

Jeeesus it's so frustrating. For years I remember us trying to sign top players but none of them being interested, whereas now they're interested but we can't afford to pay for them. We had Moutinho openly stating that he'd be happy to join up with AVB again, but nooooo.

I get the impression that with Soldado it's a case of having around £20m put aside to buy a striker, but being prepared to go a little higher at a push. It looks like Valencia's valuation is higher than that, and as with Benteke we're not willing to stretch that far.

Fucking ridiculous if you ask me. It's the difference between challenging for 5th, or challenging for 3rd. Surely Levy knows how much that will cost us?

I think it's very frustrating for the sole reason that with a legit #9 we, on paper, we are a side capable of really pushing high up the table. If you look at our side, if we can field of first choice XI with a legit #9 in it, we've got a side capable of beating anyone on any match day.

Soldado would be a huge turning point for our club and it'd be so annoying for him to go somewhere like Liverpool. I just can't stand Liverpool and I feel like we deserve Soldado and in a way Soldado deserves us. That sounds so homertastic but I think Soldado could become to us what he was for Valencia even though we have Bale. If he comes here and really takes us to the next level, all of our supporters will realize that and absolutely adore/admire him.

Ok, I did some Googling on whats the fuss about the Taxes.
It looks like, under law, if there is release clause and is met, there is ZERO tax involved - no VAT , no Income tax - becuase such a transaction is viewed as a compensation.

Below is snippet from one of the article written during Javie Matinez 40m transfer from Bilbao to Bayern last summer.

Now you will know why Valencia wants us to meet the clause desperately - to avoid paying taxes.....
This is google translation from Spanish article ....

Neither VAT or income tax, there are 40 million. The transaction is exempt from tax under the rules
Today could be the day Wednesday definitive case is resolved Javi Martinez and his move to Bayern officially a reality. Except swing, the player's representatives and lawyers have been at Bayern come to the seat of the LFP (Spanish FA) to unlock and resolve the situation.
Yesterday, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Bavarian club, Karl Heinz Rummenigge, said that the 40 million to buy the player were prepared but specified that "termination clauses that have all the Spanish players are structured in a way so complicated, it might create some problems in the legal and tax aspects. "

Sources close to the LFP, the operation of Javi Martinez is tax exempt and has no VAT or income tax, so if Bayern deposited 40 million will be paid into the account of the Athletic and process the Player tab. Three key points of this negotiation.

1 Who pays the 40 million, Bayern or the player?
According to the Statute of the FIFA player of Article 17. 2, the clause must be paid by the player and his new club together. There is no obligation to enter the new money club the player and whoever he cleared payment.
2nd Why the transaction is exempt from VAT?
10 years ago, when the transfer of Ronaldo from Inter to Real Madrid , the Liga de Fútbol Profesional made an inquiry to the Treasury about it and the answer is binding specified that payment of the clause was exempt from this tax because it was considered compensatory in nature.
3rd why the transaction is exempt from tax the income tax?
Based on article Players' Status, will Bayern which, together with the player, make payment of the clause, so there is a payment of one club to another club, Bayern Athletic, two legal entities. There is no individual involved.
The personal income tax applies only to individuals, so it has no reason to be here.

To date, at all times when in Spanish football has paid a termination clause has never been taxed any tax, but simply paid the amount specified in the contract between the player and the club concerned.
Treasury has not yet claimed never regard.

The last case was that of Ayala, the Argentine Central happened to Zaragoza Villarreal payment of 6 million.

The only plus side to Soldado going to Liverpool would almost certainly see them losing Suarez. I think Suarez would be more of a loss for them than Soldado would be a gain.

On the other hand, as you say, Soldado would be the missing piece in our jigsaw so would make a much bigger difference. I've wanted Soldado for a long time, and it's agonising being so close but so likely to blow it. I don't think all hope is lost because we still have Ade, but there's a big question mark over him. One thing I will say is that his season was in fits and starts last time around, and he strikes me as a player that needs to build up momentum.

I've given up on Soldado to be honest. All this bollocks about Lewis opening up his wallet is obviously a load of rubbish. If we can't afford him then go after someone we can afford like Bony...oh wait a minute...he's signed for fucking Swansea.

Knowing Levy, he will bid the release clause on the last day of the transfer window. Valencia will still have to accept it, Saldado will come to us and Valencia is fucked for their season.

Based on what? Talksport and a Nigerian newspaper reporting that a worse club than us might be willing to pay basically the same amount as us? If that's enough to ruin a transfer for you, you won't make it to the end of the week, let alone the transfer window.

Dude, what? I know you've given up on Levy these last few windows but this is the post of a loon, not you. Yes the Lewis stuff is almost certainly bollocks, but I didn't think anyone really took that £50m and wallet crap seriously - the reality is we're no further away from Soldado now than we were a few hours ago when everything was fine and dandy according to all the ITK. There's no reason to start doubting it until he signs for someone else or we officially say we've pulled out.

If we were to get him, along with Paulinho and Chadli, would you change your tune on Levy?

Vucinic, Arshavin, Rossi, Forlan, Suarez, Moutinho, Hazard, Villa....

Not all of those players have gone on to be the successes they may have promised to be when we were linked with them, but all of them were players I wanted us to sign that we supposedly had a realistic chance of getting. I'm not saying we fucked up the chance to get them, but for whatever reason we couldn't see the deals over the line.

I couldn't care less about Talksport, Sky Sports News, or random Nigerian newspaper reports. I'm just recognising the patterns that suggest we won't do whatever is required to bring in Soldado. It's a form of self-preservation by giving up on it.

I haven't given up on Levy. I'm not one of A&C's SoDLs, but I'm not a hater either. I think it's more complicated. He's having to balance outward ambition with realistic financial limitations, which is why I think the Moutinho and Leandro 'close-deals' were for show. You'd be surprised who else thinks that is the case. Doesn't mean I dislike Levy - we're regularly challenging for the top four and already have a fantastic team ready for the new season. I haven't given up on Adebayor (a player I was desperate for us to sign), and the new signings look like they'll make a big difference.

There's just no way I can see us paying what Valencia want.
