Spurs have signed quality signings from Europe in the past (recent histroy Modric and Berbatov) but those coming in are usally from low profile, mid to lower table teams.

Now that the team has qualified for champions league football surely there will be a lot of very talented players wanting to play in the best club competition in the world, Tottenham will become very attractive to them.

Do you think Levy should spend big and capitalised on spurs being in a prestigeous competion to further improve the talent?

I would love to add a natural left winger, goalscoring center midfielder and possibly another striker (depending on what happens with Gudjohnsen and Keane) to this team and further improve the quality we have built up over the past few seasons.

P.S.

I think in defense we are now set. There are sufficient centre backs to cover in the case of injuries now and both full back positions have good depth. Gomes has turn it around and may by in the FA team of the year. The could be an opportunity for the team to get a backup keeper given the uncertainty regarding Cudicini but that would probably be the only signing I would make in defense and in goal.

I guess we'll see what kind of players the CL can bring but the best thing is that, hopefully, it will help us retain some of our existing squad.

On that note i'd be wary of inhibiting some of our current players. Huddlestone, Bale, Lennon and Modric for example all have the potential to develop into genuinely world class midfielders (/attacking leftbacks), add to them Kranjaer, Bentley and Palacios (and Jenas?!), all of whom are worthy CL squadmen at least. Sure a great addition could help them, but I hope they're given the chance to develop.

You feel bad saying it, but I think we need a great striker... someone of Berbatov's quality.

That's the thing, the players that got us here all deserve a chance to push on. Redknapp is a pretty ruthless manager in that sense though, which is lucky. It's funny thinking of Man City and the CL - half their players would surely have ben replaced if they had have got fourth!

We'll still be shopping at the same places,
what Champions League gives us is the chance to hold onto the top class players.

In order of priority:
Back up keeper
Upgrade on BAE- keep Bale only for LM
Central defender- with Europe the demands on King are too much and I'm not convinced Bassong and Kaboul are good enough at the highest level.
Striker- I am actually happy with the 4 we have now but if EG or Pav goes then we need another one
OUTGOING:
Jenas- seems redundant especially with Sandro coming in
Ohara, Hutton, Taarabt , Gio and Keane - all gone in effect already
Alnwick - thank God we didn't need him.

With King teaching Bassong, he can become a great player. Who can we get that is better than Assou-Ekotto? Baines isn't better than Assou-Ekotto.

You're happy with our strikers? I think that all 4 have been disappointing this season, especially Defoe and Pavlyuchenko - both are imo not good enough to be leading the line for us in the ECL.

When it comes to defensive instinct its not something u can teach. I fear that we will never be able to replace king, who is just a class above everyone else.

We already have those players. Even Harry has said that. Which is why he didn't buy Bellamy when he had the chance during the winter transfer window.

i agree , i think we need a player at left back to compete with ekotto and bale. there will be times when bale will be the winger but also times when we need steel in the team and that means wilson in the middle and modric on the left, bale as the attacking fullback. when bale came into the team as lb this season he looked really good, then recently he started being moved around alot and started to look suspect.

so we need competition for bale and ekotto and definitely need someone similar to bale/corluka.. tallish, can use both feet, can attack, plays clever and loves footy. ekottos main problem is he is totally onefooted and different mindset to the rest of the squad.

would love ohara to stay though, midfield would be covered and left back not a priority as he has the potential to be able to cover that position, as do corluka and kaboul. they are very good players and very good players can adapt and flex to a variety of positions.

the quality and versatility of players like corluka, kaboul, bale, kranjcar, modric, wilson, hudd is very promising. and they are young too and will improve. what a force this squad can become. :hump:

We don't need wholesale changes. I think man for man we're as good as anyone on our day.

We perhaps lack a Torres, Rooney, Fabregas, etc, someone who can, someone extra special who can turn games. Edin Dzeko has been mentioned before, wonder if he's a possibility? I've liked him whenever I've seen him play (not much, granted, just in the odd CL game...)

Maybe Modric will turn into that player on a more consistent level next season. For me, it's a real headache where we fit Modders into the team! Hudd, Palacios and Modric - how do we fit them all into centre midfield?

Exactly - and great with Bale..

One more thing - we are not group stage yet and thats where the money is, not in the qualification.

I'm going to say we need a really quality striker as well. Our goals really dried up this year when Defoe stopped scoring and Pav went a little quiet. Dare I say, Edin Dzeko?

Other than that, maybe a midfielder/winger. Not a priority and only if the player is truly someone who could improve the team clearly.

We need another LB (competition for BAE), a back-up keeper if Cud doesn't come back, A CB if Woody's out for good, and a top top striker. The striker is absolute priority. Get that right and we could get a trophy or two next year.

We need a couple more forwards, would love it if one of them was Dzeko.

If we're going to push on I feel the current bunch, Gudjohnsen aside, are just a bit too one dimensional.

Unfortunately Gudjohnsen is past his prime and I'm not sure about Keano - I really want him to come good again but the business side of me is saying buy in someone younger and start afresh.

The only thing is, Redknapp kinda loves Defoe and Crouch, they're real favourites of his so can't really see them being dislodged as the pairing of choice for most of next season.

Midfield we already have Sandro coming in, don't feel we need a new out and out left winger as have Bale, Modric, Krancjar, Rose and Townsend for that position.

In terms of left back Naughton is supposed to be able to cover it quite well so he needs to be given more chances in both full back roles next year.

Right midfield depends on whether Bentley stays.

Centre back wise, not sure as Kaboul has come on leaps and bounds although has been impressive at right back and central midfield and not been at centre back so much.

If Woodgate can recover we should be okay but maybe if he doesn't we should look for an experienced head who won't mind not playing so much (a bit like Naybet).

Do we need much? The team are growing up together and we've already strengthened midfield.

It would be interesting to see what Real do in the summer and if van Der Vaart becomes available again.

A cheeky bid for Torres would be sweet too.

Maybe we could sign David Villa by Friday? :-D
