There is a slight chance with the players we have that we will be playing a 4-5-1 when everyone is fit.

What are these "decent replacements" you talk of? Name names.

Im sorry im dont have the resources of scoutingmanagment.moo so i cant know what decent replacements to buy, but then thats not my job. But if your happy with our striking options, good for you

Look at Chelsea. They play 4-5-1 and they only have Drogba (injury prone) and Anelka (has been shit for Chelsea ever since he arrived). Then they have Kalou who is like Dos Santos, a winger who can play as a striker in a 4-4-2 and a young talented kid in Franco di Santo.

sound familiar?

Our squad is nowhere near as good as Chelsea's, they will be competing for the league title and we will be trying to scrapeUefa cup football.

We've gone from having four proven strikers (Berba-Keane-Bent-Defoe), to two proven strikers and two very raw strikers (Bent-Pav-GDS-Campbell(wtf?)).

Our strike force has been significantly downgraded, in my opinion.

at the beginning of the window we needed a dm (not signed) a lm (not signed) and defensive cover (signed). We ended needing two strikers and signed one. That's not bad compared to some previous years but still not as good as i'd hoped for! But it's done now so let's get behind the team, coys.

Talking to a brick wall here. I for one am have alot of support for the board. But if you think Pav, Bent, GDS and Fraiser Campbell is going to give us a decent camapign, well i have to disagree. Stop being so sarcastic and juvenille. If you think we have done good business by getting rid of berba and keane and replacing them with what we got.. well god help you.
Totally agree...and I'm really struggling to understans why so many "fans" on here seem to struggle with the concept of us being a lot weaker than we were last year.

For me the key man was Keane. Had will had him we may have had a chance with Roman coming in. But we screwed up the signing of Arshavin so we're left with Frazier bloody Campbell. Is he another Keane? I think not.

familiar up front i agree but chelsea play that way mostly because of what they have in midfield. share we compare the midfields of both teams now?

there's definitely a need for a more experienced striker than FC to back up bent as pavly will be cup-tied in europe.

finally, selling 2 of the best strikers in the league for £50m is great but it shows the footballing world our limited ambitions when we can't/wouldn't get some big names in to replace them. snatching robinho from under chelsea's nose was a powerful statement from citeh, something which we needed to do. the sky4 must be laughing their arses off now...£50m to put us back in our place.

Oh well.....reading through the comments I was pleased to see a few wished Berba well, especially Sicknote, with a considered post.

It was confusing about Levy telling Sky he hadn't given permission.
Maybe he had an agreement with Berba that his valuation was 30 mill - which it was going back to April/May - and if a club met it he could talk to them, and Berba knew what MU had bid and just ignored the Citeh malarkey, going up to Mancland even though Levy hadn't *officially* said "You can talk to them". That relationship had obviously broken down totally. Understandably.

It certainly looks like that's how events transpired if Levy has agreed to drop the complaint to the PL.
So we got almost 31 mill for him after they faffed around refusing to pay up for months. One wonders why if they were prepared to shell out that much eventually? And 2 months ago most people would've been satisfied with that deal. As for FC, I don't know, I haven't seen him play, but at least he's another forward option we have, and in the next few months we will see exactly how good a coach and tactician Ramos really is. I'm hopefull things will work out. The players have to step up to the mark now, it's up to them. They give a good interview, like JJ, now they have to play consistently and make that step up.

This has been the most acrimonious transfer I have ever known, however I still think some of the comments on here today have been a bit OTT. I personally hope Berba remembers Spurs supporters with fondness, as Sicknote says, it all only turned sour in the last few weeks, though ofcourse he always had his critics as a player.

Although it was very painful seeing him in the confines of OT shaking hands and looking happy, I'm sad for myself, but I can be relieved for him that it has all finally been resolved as he wished and he is where he wanted to be all along. I hope I can still enjoy watching him play, as I appreciate skilful elegant players of his ilk, and I do wish him all the best for the future, especially with Bulgaria, success in their upcoming World Cup qualifying matches, and making it to South Africa in 2010. He would grace that stage and is what he deserves for the first time in his career.

Goodbye Berbs.

One final note: I thought the 2 young lads who spoke to SSN outside the Lodge late this evening were totally fab, and very eloquent representatives of our club's supporters. A pleasure to see and hear them on the telly.

Ooh, forgot to say, Bill_Oddie's description of the website announcement came to pass...sort of... it was the usual clipped, abrasive, short, factual statement, with a pic of FC, and his arrival on Loan taking up most of it. Infact I'm surprised it even had the title of 'Manchester United Deal' - just mentioning their name on our website was tough to take, and even though it was brusque, the information it contained, stark and to the point still made me tearful.

But I'll wish him a fond farewell anyway.

The joy of Berbatov fucking off tonight has more than made up for the lack of late activity. I just feel so much happier he's nowhere near our club. I look at it this way, if I had a mate who was stroppy as fuck, didn't actually want to be my mate and had a Danchev-esque bird who constantly moaned to everyone about how much he hated me, but was pretty awesome at rolling a joint once in a while I'd have to weigh the situation up and tell him very politely to fuck off. If someone offered me 30 million for him then all the better.

We at least know now that every man in the changing room before the next match wants to be at this club and win for this club, and to me that's worth more than Berbatov.

We are not weaker than we were last year in my honest opinion and i think ive spent enough time and money on Tottenham Hotspur over the last 20 plus years to consider myself a fan.We will find out in May.

So, but whole team is like 100 times better than ours and they still have real and do I need to say world class defensive midfielders compared to our Zokora who managed to play his first great game for us after being 2 years with club.

Well i would like to add my farewell to Dimitar Berbatov, firstly, thank you for the 42 goals.........secondly, i hope you really do get all you deserve, nothing would make me happier than to see you struggle like fuck to fit in at your new club, and catch a massive dose of the pox, which you will get once Rooney has shown you around the clubs and parlours he frequents, may your hair loss accelerate and you end up looking like Mr Burns within the next year!
I doubt that anyone at Manure is stupid enough to believe that you are a genuine guy, because once you fuck someone over, (you slut) it is not forgotten, and try throwing your toys out of the pram at OT and you will find a size 9 wrapped across your balding head.
Right, its over, he is gone, lets move on now eh?

The fucking tramp!
