Now that is a quality bit of copy and paste journalism.

Until Berba's departure is on the official site in flashing 30 ft-high letters, I'm refusing to worry. There's not a great deal I can do about it.

Well...I see it like this......With so much speculation about Dimis future.....if he wanted to stay, he would have said that to the press by now. He has been vERY quiet which seems to suggest that he wants to go to a bigger club if the right offer comes his way....

If the club have put an asking price on him and are willing to listen to offers, I'm not surprised he's keeping schtum. He can't win either way - if he says he wants to stay he might jeopardise a move or alienate fans of his new team; if he says he wants to go we'll turn on him in no time! The best course for all concerned is to keep quiet. He's said he's happy at Spurs which is about all we could reasonably expect him to say.

In any case, would announcing his intention to stay actually make any difference to the rumour-mongers & the press? Ancellotti announced last week that he was definitely staying at AC, but he's still being tipped to take over at Chelsea.

The fact that Dantchev is keeping quiet may or may not be a good sign though....

Manchester United ready to answer Dimitar Berbatov’s prayers

Sir Alex Ferguson’s long wait to sign Tottenham’s £25m-rated Bulgarian striker could soon be over

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/manchester_united/article4087649.ece

I like the comment somebody posted underneath the article about what is the difference between Real tapping up Ronaldo and Ferguson with Berbatov. Says both using compliant journalists to push them through

Spot on. The moany Scottish tw*t

I just hope that if we find that the window has shut and Berbatov is still in our colours, that he gives us a full season. This persistent admiration from afar just can't be helping him concentrate.

As well as, if he does go, he has to go real soon, to give us a chance of sourcing a top drawer replacement.

If the ITK and news stories are anything to go by, we are playing the field anyway.

Guys, Milan's offer may be derisory but it certainly is not derogatory. To my knowledge, Milan have not been critical or disrespectful in any way

Personally I'd say the offer was derilict and also derivative, Derek.

Words are fun.

ITK is better though. Where's my feed? Hurry up!

re Berbatov and Milan

Bulgarian media cite Galliani's words today that "Berbatov and Mario Gomez are good players but we prefer to sign one of Drogba, Adebayor and Eto'o." He says also that they have already had talks with Drogba and Eto'o and enquired about the availability of Adebayor. No word about an offer for Berba. I'm not going to believe what he says though...

BTW if he takes Milan's offer for Berba only as a move in their game to sign Drogba or Eto'o, he would have probably put an accent on it rather than remaining silent.

I have to credit Berbatov though, for not coming out and requesting a move. Just look at Gareth Barry. A very good player but not in the same breath as Berbatov (allthough, acknowledging that they are very different players.) Barry comes out calling for a move to Liverpool and saying that he needs Champions League football. Yet, Berbatov has been linked with the biggest clubs in Europe a lot longer than Barry has with Liverpool, and he hasn't said a thing.

He is clearly happy at Spurs and would obviously be happy at a top Champions League club aswell. He clearly isn't desperate to leave though, so i think theres every chance he could give us at least 1 more season. I think he'll be happy either way. He seems to be leaving it in our hands. If we get a bid big enough, then i think we'll consult Berbatov. If he wants to talk to said club, theres a good chance we'll sell. I just dont know if anybody is willing to spend such big money on him. There are cheaper alternatives at a time where there a lot of world class players on the move.

Eto'o could be off. Ibrahimivic could make way. Drogba looks to be on the move aswell. David Villa will definately move. Fabiano could change clubs. Huntalaar is likely to make a big move. Gomez aswell. Diego Milito and Sergio Garcia.

I was quite concerned that you were going to use the phrase "setting off a transfer merry-go-round" which would have scored you top points in the 'Most Hated Hack phrases' game. :)

Or it's all bollocks he's saying and he's trying to spook Levy into accepting his offer for Berb's before he decides to go for Drogba instead, there's more tham one way to play spoof

The hidden presupposition of your post is that Danchev's talk does not represent Berbatov's wishes.

Agreed, both him and his agent have kept nicely quiet so far. Full credit.

I think you can safely add:

Benzema and/or Fred from Lyon

Saviola and/or Baptista from R.Madrid

Nikola Žigić from Valencia

Schevchenko and/or Anelka from Chelsea

Lost of striker movement this summer!!!

This is why i think there is a solid chance of Berba staying, there are just too many Strikers who are potentially moving club this summer who will want CL football and not enough teams with CL football and enough cash or need for these players.

Realistically anyone who wants Berbatov could have either Drogba or Eto'o plus someone like Fred for the money we are asking for Berbatov. Or David Villa plus some spare change.

Now come on, after his goals last night who would you rather have (assuming you're netural to the situation) - Berbatov or Villa?

Evidently SKY Italia reporting this morning that AC Milan have gone cool on signing Berbs. The president of the club has said that it probably won't happen.
Good news or expected? Personally, I don't think he would go there anyway.

does anyone think that if a club is firmly interested in berba that we'd hold out for 25m+?
